Select the range of cells that you want to resize, select the format → cells menu command, click the Format Cell dialog box, select the Alignment tab, and in the Text control box, tick the Shrink font fill check box, and the OK button. Now, when we enter data in these cells, Excel automatically reduces the size of the characters if the data is entered longer than the cell width so that the data is displayed in the cell.
