Although you can reduce the size of a word file by compressing all the pictures or the size of the pictures in the Word2007 document, it is cumbersome to perform a compression operation each time. The user can set picture compression options to achieve the purpose of automatically compressing picture dimensions when saving Word documents, as described in the following steps:
Step 1th, open the Word2007 document window and select any picture. On the Format tab of the Open Picture Tools ribbon, click the Compress Picture button in the adjustments group, as described in Figure 2009022603.

In the 2nd step, in the Open Compress Picture dialog box, click the Options button, as shown in Figure 2009022604.

Step 3rd, open the Compress Settings dialog box, select the automatically perform basic compression on save check box, and click OK, as shown in Figure 2009022605.

Tip: In the Compress Settings dialog box, if the delete cropped areas of pictures check box is selected, the cropped picture will not be restored to its original state after the compressed picture operation is performed.
