Backup of Flash Recovery area
The backup command is the Flash recovery area, which is only after Oracle 10g. The 10g introduces the Flash recovery area and supports backup of the zone in an Rman backup.
Oracle introduced flashback queries in 9i, relying on the information stored in the undo tablespace to Flash back to the previous version of the query, which is limited by the size of the undo table space and the retention policy.
In 10g, Oracle introduced a new flashback feature, using the Flash recovery area to store flashback 1og, and so on. This zone is created by default in the Oracle_base directory. It can hold backup sets, mirrored copies, archived logs, control files for automatic backups, and SPFile and flashback logs. The storage position and size are determined by the parameters Db_recovery_file_dest and db_recovery_file_dest_size.
The default flashback database is off and can be opened in the Mount exclusive state.
Take a look at a few pieces of text on Oracle's official documentation:
To free space in the FRA we could does take a backup of the Flash Recovery area using the command backup Recovery AREA.T His command would take the backup of all the files in the FRA to tape only. After this space occupied by the files in the FRA would be marked as reclaimable.
The larger the fast recovery area, the most useful it is. Ideally, the fast recovery area should is large enough for copies of the data files, control files, online redo log files, and archived redo log files needed to recover the database, and also the copies of these backup files, is kept based On the retention policy.
The Flash Recovery area was a unified storage location for all recovery-related files and activities in an Oracle Database. It includes control file, archived Log Files, Flashback Logs, Control file autobackups, Data Files, and RMAN files.
From the above paragraphs, we can get a message:
