Due to work reasons, I often need to reinstall the operating system. Previously, reinstalling the system had been a headache for me. It is not because of the trouble of installing the system, but because every time the system is installed, it is troublesome to upgrade the anti-virus software with the slow old cat. Besides spending a lot of money on accessing the internet, it also wastes a lot of valuable time. Although it is now using broadband, the servers of antivirus software companies are not very fast, and the 2 M bandwidth can only be used to download the virus library at a speed of dozens of K. In fact, all the commonly used anti-virus software has a set of tricks to back up the current virus database, which ensures that you can upgrade the anti-virus software to the pre-installed version within half a minute. Therefore, this time, I specifically wrote a method to back up the virus database of four mainstream antivirus software on the market.

Rising 2005 Anti-Virus Software

Rising Star 2005 is one of the most popular anti-virus software in China. large manufacturers have to consider it carefully. Let's talk about it first.

Backup

There is a dedicated tool program in rising to back up the current virus database. Click "start"> "program"> "anti-virus software"> "anti-virus software" to bring up the main interface of rising. Click the "rising tool" button in it, and double-click the "Create hard disk installation backup" icon in the right column of the window shown in 1.

Then, rising will pop up a "hard disk installation backup" creation wizard, asking where you want to put the backup file, you can specify a storage location as needed (if the system is to be reinstalled, we recommend that you do not have a default path or a system partition, otherwise, the backup file will be deleted by mistake during system creation ). The rest of the operations will follow the prompts of rising. In a short time, a prompt will be displayed for backup completion. In this case, you can find the backup file in the Backup Directory, as shown in figure 2.

Recovery is also very simple. After you reinstall the system, you just need to double-click the prepared Installation File. Let's see if the familiar rising installation screen has come out again? In addition, it is not a common Installer. It will set your previous software (for example, whether there is a rising assistant or the default installation path) and the current virus database (for example, 2005-4-4 1) will be set as is, and is the same as before installation.

[Tips] If you cannot find the "Create hard disk installation backup button" on your rising star, it is generally because you have not installed this component. Click "start"> "program> Rising antivirus software> Add/delete component", select "Add/Delete" in the displayed dialog box, and click "Next ", in the list bar of 3, find the "rising tool program> Create a hard disk and install the backup program" column, click the selected status, and then click "Next" to install it as prompted.

　Jiangmin kv2005 anti-virus software

Jiangmin's KV series anti-virus software has a long history in China and has a considerable market share. In addition, kv2005 also provides backup tools similar to rising.

　　Backup

Click the "Start" menu> "Jiangmin anti-virus software> kv2005". The main interface of kv2005 is displayed immediately. Click "Tools"> "Backup recovery> reinstallation backup" (4). A dialog box is displayed asking where the backed up files are stored, just like rising, we recommend that you do not use the default software path, but place the backup file in a security partition other than the system partition. As for subsequent operations, you only need to follow the root prompt, which is very simple.

After the virus database is backed up, we can also find a file in the backup path, but the kV backup file cannot run as directly as rising, it also needs to be restored using the "new installation recovery" tool provided by kv2005.

After the system is re-installed, install the kv2005 software first. Then, on the main interface (see figure 4), click "Tools"> "new installation and recovery". Then, Kv will prompt you to enter the path to store the backup file, we can browse the desired path, and the recovery program will automatically upgrade the virus database. After all the work is complete, what is displayed in front of you is the same as the kv2005 before the backup.

[Tips] kv2005's backup tool can only back up its virus database, and cannot save the software settings like rising.

　　Kingsoft drug overlord 2005 Anti-Virus Software

Anti-Virus 2005 is the latest version of anti-virus software of Kingsoft. It integrates many user-friendly features, such as active anti-virus, which can be used for virus protection and automatic upgrade before entering the system, you can automatically complete the upgrade task without any operation. It is undeniable that Kingsoft's anti-virus software provides the fastest server upgrade speed, but it may be because it is too convenient, we didn't provide a dedicated virus Database Backup Tool on the main interface, just like the two old guys above. However, it's hard to find out that we have these backups. Please continue to look down.

　　Backup

Many versions of Kingsoft drug overlord follow the same upgrade method. There is an update folder in the installation directory of Kingsoft drug overlord. The Update file is stored in this directory every time you upgrade the virus database manually or automatically. 2005 is no exception, which can be used by us. Before reinstalling the system, you can copy the directory to another partition (the default location of the directory is in the system partition:/kav2005/update). After the system is reinstalled, copy the backup file back using the local upgrade function of the drug overlord.

Click "start"> "Kingsoft drug overlord 2005 Security combo> Kingsoft drug overlord 2005", and click "online upgrade" in the pop-up main interface. Then, the software will pop up an online upgrade prompt wizard (as shown in Figure 5), we select "upgrade from local and local area network", and click "Next ".

The software will continue to ask us about the storage location of the upgraded files, click the Browse button to select the path we backed up to (6), and then proceed with the corresponding prompts to complete the upgrade.

[Tips] in earlier versions, after the system is reinstalled, you can copy the backup update folder and overwrite the original folder to recover the virus database. However, after the test, kingsoft drug overlord 2005 can no longer use this method.

　Norton AntiVirus 2004 Anti-Virus Software

Norton's products have been with Chinese computer enthusiasts since the DOS era. Today, it is also indispensable. However, after all, it is a foreign software and may be unacceptable, antivirus has always been ineffective in the detection and removal of popular domestic viruses. It is far less effective than the domestic colleagues mentioned above, so today it can only be wronged to play in the fourth place. Like Kingsoft drug overlord, antivirus does not provide the corresponding virus Database Backup tools. It seems that we have to "do it ourselves.

Like other anti-virus software, the main program file and virus database file are not stored together. The virus library file is stored in the system partition:/program files/common files/symantec shared (7). We just need to copy it to another partition to complete the backup.

After the operating system is reinstalled, you also need to install Norton Antivirus again, and then copy the previously backed up virus database folder back to the original location. However, because the virus library folder of antivirus belongs to its core file, it is not allowed to overwrite and copy the file when it is started. Otherwise, the "current file is in use" error box is displayed, at the same time, it is difficult for us to disable antivirus in normal Windows mode. Therefore, to copy back the virus database folder, you also need to enter the safe mode of windows.

Restart the computer. When you press the "F8" key before entering the operating system, the Windows Advanced Startup menu (Windows XP in this example) appears ). Move the light entry to "safe mode" and press enter to enter the safe mode of windows. After all the programs are loaded, copy the backed up virus database folder to the installation location (system partition:/program files/common files/symantec shared, after the copy is complete, restart the computer again and Norton Antivirus will automatically identify the new version of the virus database.

Tip: The security mode is a working mode that only loads the Core Driver of the system. Most software (whether or not there is an automatic start function) will not be started by itself in this mode. Therefore, this example successfully overwrites the virus library folder of Norton Antivirus to the original location in security mode.

　　Conclusion

So far, the method for backing up these four mainstream antivirus software virus libraries has been described. Of course, there are other methods to achieve this goal, such as directly downloading the offline update package each time to upgrade. But in comparison, the offline package will increase the operation steps, which is not as convenient as the above method. In addition, these methods can not only provide quick upgrades for your antivirus software on a single machine, moreover, the network management of your organization can also be used to enable all computer users in the unit to implement one-time and rapid batch upgrades of anti-virus software.
