Basic configuration of Cisco switches

After entering the configuration interface, if it is the first time to configure, the first thing to do is the IP address configuration, which is mainly for the remote configuration behind the preparation. IP address configuration methods are as follows:

When you enter the "I" letter in the previous configuration Interface "Enter Selection:" And then click Enter, the following configuration information appears:

If you also want to configure the switch's subnet mask and default gateway, select "S" and "G" items in the above IP configuration interface respectively. Now let's learn the configuration of the password:

In the above IP configuration menu, select "X" to return to the switch configuration interface described earlier.

Enter the "P" letter and press ENTER, then enter a 4￣8 password (for security, on the screen with "*"), enter and press ENTER to confirm, and return to the above login main interface.

After you have configured the IP and password, the switch will be able to work as it is configured in the default configuration. If you want to change the switch configuration and monitor network conditions, you can do so either by controlling the command menu or by using the web-based Catalyst 1900 Switch manager anywhere.

If the switch is running Cisco Catalyst 1900/2820 Enterprise Edition software. You can change the configuration by using the command control port (command-line interface CLI). When you enter the configuration main interface, the menu is displayed with the item "Command Line", and the item "Console Password" is missing, which is done in the subordinate menu.
