The wireless UWB technology is an alternative among the wireless technology families. Its uniqueness has become a key object of military research. However, since then, it has broad application prospects for common business areas. So this article will introduce the wireless UWB technology.

Introduction to wireless UWB technology

Wireless UWB is a wireless communication technology that is very different from other technologies, it will bring low power consumption, high bandwidth, and relatively simple wireless communication technology to the interface cards and Access Technologies of Wireless LAN and personal network PAN. The ultra-broadband technology solves the major communication problems that have plagued the traditional wireless technology for many years. It has developed a method that is not sensitive to channel fading, and has low transmit signal power spectrum density and low Interception Capability, the system features low complexity and provides positioning accuracy in several centimeters. The wireless UWB technology is particularly suitable for high-speed wireless access and military communication applications in intensive indoor multi-path locations.

Although the description of Ultra-Wideband is not detailed, it does help to separate this technology from the traditional "narrow band" system, or the updated system mainly refers to the "Broadband" system of the future 3G cellular technology described in the document. There are two main differences between ultra-wideband and other "narrowband" or "broadband. First, the ultra-broadband bandwidth is defined by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as 25% or greater than the center frequency. It is clear that this bandwidth is significantly greater than the bandwidth of all current communication technologies. Second, ultra-wideband is typically used in non-carrier applications. Traditional "narrowband" and "broadband" use radio frequency (RF) carriers to transmit signals. The frequency ranges from the baseband to the actual carrier frequencies allowed by the system. On the contrary, the implementation of Ultra-Wideband is the ability to directly modulated a large surge and fall time "pulse", so that the generated waveform occupies the bandwidth of several GHz.

The wireless UWB technology is essentially different from the existing wireless communication technology. The current wireless communication technology uses a continuous radio wave, which is like a person watering the lawn with a pipe, the water in the pipe fluctuates continuously with the movement of manpower. Almost all wireless communications, including mobile phones and wireless LAN communications, are like this: using a certain modulation method to load signals on consecutive radio waves.

In contrast, wireless UWB technology is like a person watering lawns with a rotating sprinkler, which can spray more and faster short-lived water pulse. Wireless UWB technology products can send a large number of very short, very fast energy pulses during work. These pulses are accurate timing, each of which is only several milliseconds long and can cover a wide range of areas. The pulse transmission time is changed according to a complicated encoding. The pulse itself can represent 0 in digital communication or 1.

Ultra-broadband technology has great potential for innovation and interest in wireless communication, the adaptability and satisfaction of general consumers and professionals are greatly improved in commercial multimedia equipment, home and personal networks. Therefore, some people in the industry are fully engaged in the establishment of ultra-broadband technology and its products. I believe that this ultra-broadband technology is not only favored by low-end users, but also has broad prospects in some high-end technical fields, such as radar tracking, precise positioning, and wireless communication.

In the time domain, the ultra-wideband system is different from the traditional communication system. Generally, the communication system performs signal modulation by sending RF carriers, while the wireless UWB technology directly performs modulation using the starting and falling point time domain pulses (dozens of ns, ultra-wideband transmission places the modulation information process on a very wide frequency band, and determines the frequency range occupied by the bandwidth based on the duration of the process. Due to the limited transmit power, the transmission distance is further limited. It is indicated that the valid transmission distance of the Ultra-Wideband Signal is less than 10 m. Therefore, in civil use, the wireless UWB technology is generally located in the personal LAN field.

In terms of frequency domain, ultra-wideband is different from traditional narrowband and broadband, and its frequency band is wider. A narrow band refers to a bandwidth with a relative bandwidth (the ratio of the signal bandwidth to the center frequency) less than 1%. A bandwidth between 1% and 25% is called a bandwidth with a relative bandwidth greater than 25%, in addition, the Ultra-Wideband Network is called Ultra-Wideband Network with a center frequency greater than MHz.
