Basic issues that determine core switch faults

The LAN contains a large number of computers and relies solely on anti-virus software to scan and kill one by one. The workload is huge, and it is not conducive to solving network faults efficiently, therefore, I plan to test whether the communication speed between computers in the LAN is normal.

The following describes what is a switch fault, which causes many kinds of switch faults. For example, if the motherboard is overheated, the entire machine cannot run, or the power supply capacity is too small, it cannot satisfy the overall operation of the entire vswitch. Normal computers in the LAN can access each other normally, but when accessing an important host connected to this switch, the speed is obviously abnormal. Will the connection of this switch be unreliable, or is the performance of the vswitch unstable?

With this in mind, I intend to use other common switches to replace this Faulty Switch. When I cut off the power of the faulty switch and prepared to take it out by hand for replacement, I was surprised to find that the surface of the device is very hot, and the temperature on the Web server host is also very high, when you move your hands near these devices.

It can also clearly feel the heat flow in the air, it seems that the switch is in a serious "Fever" status, will it be a "Fever" of the switch ", what causes other computers to be unable to normally access important hosts connected to the vswitch? To verify my guess, I cut off the power of the switch with severe fever and the Web server host.

At the same time, the distance between the switch and the Web server host is opened to ensure that they can be well ventilated during work. In addition, to allow these "Fever" devices to cool down as soon as possible, I also specially found an electric fan that continued to blow them for half an hour. After I felt that the temperature on the surface of their shells had recovered, I re-connected them to the power supply.

At this time, the miracle appeared. I again pinged the IP address of the Web server host from my computer, and the results returned for this test were all normal. When I opened the IE browser, when trying to access the notification information published by the Unit on the Web server, the browsing speed turned out to be very fast. It seems that the switch failure caused by slow Login Server speed, it is caused by a severe fever of switches and Web server hosts.

Although the switch failure has been successfully ruled out, I am wondering why the switch and Web server host have a fever? After careful investigation on the fault site, I found that four fans were installed on the top of the cabinet where the switch and Web server host were located. Normally, the four sides of the Cabinet were closed and only four fans were used for heat dissipation;

However, I don't know why. None of the four fans can work normally, so that the switch and Web server host will emit a large amount of heat when they continue to work, the cabinets cannot be ruled out in a timely manner. In addition, when the switches and Web server hosts are in close contact, the heat they emit will affect each other, resulting in a serious reduction in their performance.

In order to completely solve the switch fault, I invited a professional technician to repair the fan in the cabinet and isolated the switch and Web server host, in this way, the chance of the switch and Web server host getting a fever again is greatly reduced.

Although the switch failure has been successfully ruled out, I am wondering why the core switch and Web server host have a fever? After careful investigation on the fault site, I found that four fans were installed on the top of the cabinet where the switch and Web server host were located. Normally, the four sides of the Cabinet were closed and only four fans were used for heat dissipation;

However, I don't know why, but none of the four fans can work normally. As a result, the core switch and Web server host will emit a large amount of heat during continuous operation, the cabinet cannot be ruled out in a timely manner, coupled with close contact between the switch and the Web server host.

The heat they emit will affect each other and eventually lead to a severe reduction in their performance. In order to completely solve the switch fault, I invited a professional technician to repair the fan in the cabinet and isolated the switch and Web server host, in this way, the chance of the switch and Web server host getting a fever again is greatly reduced.

With this in mind, I immediately remotely started the server system. After the server is successfully started, I ping the IP address of the server again and found that the ping command response time is still abnormal; when I try to log on, I can see that the access speed is still slow. To confirm that the failure of the core switch is irrelevant to the working status of the Web server.

I tested the IP addresses of printing servers and other important computers, and found that these important computer ip addresses cannot be pinged normally, which indicates that the problem is indeed not on the Web server, after excluding the abnormal status of the Web server, I began to suspect that there was a virus in the LAN network, which caused the blockage of the entire network transmission channel.

Because the LAN contains a large number of computers and relies solely on anti-virus software to scan and kill one by one, the workload is huge and it is not conducive to efficiently solving network faults, therefore, I plan to test whether the communication speed between computers in the LAN is normal.

I first pinged the IP address of one of the computers, and found that the ping command responded quickly. However, I was a little worried, as a result, I tried to share files with the computer. I found that the transfer was completed in a twinkling of an eye, which showed that the speed of file transmission between LAN workstations was normal; later.

I transfer shared files with other computers and find that the file transmission speed is normal. This proves that the network transmission channel of the LAN is not blocked, even if the computer in the LAN is infected with a network virus, it will not have a substantial impact on the operation of the login server. Therefore, the author judges that the failure of the core switch has nothing to do with the network virus or broadcast storm.
