Microsoft (Weibo) Bing launched its new image search function in Thursday to provide better search advice, filters and larger thumbnails, the news of the morning of June 22, Beijing time.
Microsoft redesigned its regular search page a few weeks ago and launched an updated image search feature in Tuesday. With this update, Microsoft has improved search recommendations for related searches, and users can easily filter pictures by size, color, type, and layout.
Microsoft has also placed these new features at the top of the page, making the Bing Image search page look more concise and easier to find and use. The updated thumbnail image is larger, the white area between the pictures narrows, the related search list is longer, and the right-hand column provides a trend search list.
Like Google (micro-blog) image Search, Bing also provides automatic image zoom preview function, users simply hover the mouse over the picture can be. Bing's picture previews seem more fluid than Google services.
Microsoft says the image search accounts for 7% of Bing's total search. The Bing team said the update "makes the picture Shine" and allows users to find pictures more quickly. The new image search design also makes the image search experience consistent with other Bing services.
With this update, Microsoft said, they also merged some of the interesting ideas of Microsoft Research and Bing's research department into the image search results. For example, it is difficult to show a horse horizontally because these objects have a variety of visual characteristics. The new filter bar is being developed by Microsoft's Asian Research department.
