Introduction to the Check in/out feature : This feature is intended specifically for multiuser management. That is, multiple users use multiple accounts to manage the same site. The power of this feature is that when more than one person logs on to the site for simultaneous updates, the changes specified by the other user are locked and other users cannot change the content. At the same time, this feature is used in conjunction with design notes to give other users a reminder that "I am using or modifying a file, please do not change it arbitrarily". It can be said that when the DW introduced the function in the site management, so that its function has been greatly improved, do not let FrontPage special beauty and the former.

Brief explanation : Because most website provides the remote site management to be mainly FTP function, therefore in this article takes the FTP function as an example carries on the analysis explanation.

stepwise Analysis :

The first step : Select Site-open site to open a web. Then, by double-clicking in the Site option, DW automatically pops the site definition for (site name)-Web Definition dialog box. Select the second remote info-remote information, in the access-data list has 4 subsidiary options, select the second FTP, open the FTP Remote Administration settings panel to set up. Look at the picture and note:

Figure 1

Note : First look at the upper half of the section. Where FTP host is the FTP login address, host directory is the remote folder. Here you can specify a directory in which to upload files. If it is directly uploaded to the root directory, typing "/" can be, login is the user name, password is remote login password, use Passive FTP is using passive FTP function, use firewall a firewall. This is part of some of the necessary settings for remote landing.

Now let's look at the second part. The check in/out itself is a secondary option because it is not available when a single person manages a site. The first thing to do is to check it before you can see the content below.

Where check out file when opening prompts us to "open when checking files", where the "open" content refers to the following check out name (inspector name) and email address (the inspector's e-mail addresses). It is used to indicate identities when multiple users log in to a remote site for management.

The second step : After the relevant settings, click the OK key to return to the site management status, let us observe, after the Setup site manager what has changed. See figure below and note:

Figure 2

Figure 3

Note : Figure 2 shows the state of the local site manager when no remote administration settings are made. Figure 3 shows that the remote administration settings have completed the status of waiting for the remote server to connect. At the same time, we found that when the check In/out feature was set, there were two more icons in the status bar, each with a "checkmark" and a "lock" logo. Where the icon with a "checkmark" represents the check out feature. The "lock" is the check in function with the table.

Step three : Speaking of this, then what is the check in/out function in the management of the site process will produce what effect? Now let's take a look at the effect and effect of using remote file management when connecting to a remote server. See figure below and note:

Figure 4

Figure 5

Figure 6

Note : First we want to connect to the remote site. After the connection, select some files to press verify, at which point the remote site will be synchronized with the same files in the local site (see Figure 4). It means "I'm modifying these files, you don't move." The "check mark" will be displayed in different colors for different managers. A file marked with a green checkmark represents the same color that is being modified by "I", which is displayed at the local and remote sites. When other managers see these files, the check mark color appears red. That is to remind them that these files are being modified by "someone else." The user name of the inspector that we just set up in remote Info-check in/out-checked out name is also displayed in both the local and distant site windows. At the same time, the remote site will automatically establish some of the same file name as registered, but the suffix is named ". LCK "format file (see Figure 5), which records the authenticator's personal information and represents the locked remote file to prevent other managers from modifying the files when I modify them. It only acts as a warning, and other managers can also make a hard change to the remote files, just delete them. When we modify the file, save and upload the remote file, these suffixes are named ". LCK "files will automatically be deleted.

Again, select some files to press register, and the files in the local site will be locked by the lock (Figure 6). Also, the file properties of local files are changed to read-only files, meaning that "I" does not have permission to change these files. However, these files are free at the remote site and do not change. The function of registering is mainly used to prevent us from modifying some files when we are online to make changes to the files that do not need to be modified, because the local and remote files are updated synchronously, so long as we modify the file to register the other unmodified files. You can avoid similar mistakes and make your work tedious. When we need to unlock them to make the changes, just select the files again and press "Chech in". If it's a simple unlock, just right-click the file in the local site manager and select the Turn off read only (Close read only property) file in the pop-up menu list to restore freedom.

Through the above three steps analysis, I believe you have a clearer understanding of multi-user management through "Registration/inspection". Now let's summarize their concepts:

Check In (enlistment): only for local site files. Avoid making any changes to files that do not need to be modified.

Check Out (authentication): Synchronous operation is done locally and remotely. Prompt other website manager Some files are being modified, please do not make any changes.

Finally, we hope that you can take full advantage of this feature and make your site managed in an orderly fashion.
