In the Word2013 document window, the name that looks like a menu is actually the name of the Ribbon. When you click these names, the menu does not open, but instead switches to the ribbon panel that corresponds to it. Each ribbon is divided into groups based on functionality, and each ribbon has features that are described in the following areas:
1. The Start ribbon
The start ribbon includes the Clipboard, font, paragraph, style, and edit five groups, corresponding to the Word2003 edit and paragraph menu parts commands. This ribbon is primarily used to help users edit and format Word2013 documents, which is the most common feature area for users, as shown in Figure 2013081101.

2. The Insert Ribbon
The Insert Ribbon includes pages, tables, illustrations, applications, media, links, annotations, headers and footers, text, and symbols, corresponding to some of the commands in the Insert menu in Word2003, which are used primarily to insert various elements into the Word2013 document, as shown in Figure 2013081102.

3. The design ribbon includes two groupings of document format and page background, and includes items such as selection and setting of themes, setting up watermarks, setting page colors, and page borders, as shown in Figure 2013081103.
