Hardware:

1. Worry about MODEM

Users familiar with the modem AT command can also use the AT command to configure the modem, the method is to open "START" --- "Program" --- "attachment" --- "communication" --- "Super Terminal" --- "Hyperterminl", and the program will pop up an operation interface, click the "cancel" button on the page without creating a new connection. Then, run the following command:
ATS11 = 50 T & C0 & K3 & Y0 & W0 commands have the following meanings:
S11 = 50 indicates that the audio duration and interval are set to the minimum value of 50 milliseconds.
T indicates selecting the audio dialing method
& C0 indicates that the data carrier always exists
& K3 indicates the use of RTS/CTS hardware Traffic Control
& Y0 indicates that the user is called up during power-on. Solution 0
& W0 indicates to save the dynamic settings as user solution 0.

2) set the port parameters of the modem.

In order to explore the potential of the modem, we must also set it to make the MODEM work at its best, set the port parameters of the MODEM according to the specifications of the purchased or attached MODEM.

3) promptly upgrade the modem software

To maximize the effectiveness of the modem, it is also essential to upgrade the corresponding software. You can use the Windows Socket Update program to upgrade the dial-up network system version. It updates the drivers for TCP, UDP, ICMP, IP, and other ports of Windows9X, provides New FTP, Telnet, Winipcfg and other utilities in Windows to speed up the Internet and prevent IE from being a patch released by Microsoft when browsing the page. In addition, pay attention to update the modem driver. New drivers often correct some possible errors in the original driver and improve the communication quality of the modem.

4) disable the debug mode of the modem.

Because the debugging mode takes some time to detect and optimize the line, it will prolong the dialing time. For areas with stable lines and good communication quality, we can completely block this function. In the "Connect" tab of the "modem" Settings dialog box, click the "advanced" button, in the "Additional Settings" text box, type "% C0" to disable the debug mode of the modem and increase its speed. However, this option requires that the Modem driver of the original manufacturer be used; otherwise, the modification value is invalid.

5) Adjust the line status through Modem

If the quality of the telephone line is poor, frequent disconnection may seriously affect the browsing speed. The solution is: Click Start> Settings> Control Panel> Modem, and select Properties/connection page/advanced options from Modem ", enter "S10 = 50" and "S25 = 200" in the additional settings. The former can force the Modem to maintain the connection status for 5 seconds when the carrier is temporarily lost, however, the latter can force the Modem to maintain a 2-second connection status when the DTR (Data Terminal Ready, Data Terminal Ready) signal is temporarily unavailable, this prevents the Modem from being disconnected when the transmission quality is poor.

6) modify the Registry to optimize the Modem.

To make the Modem fully and thoroughly work in the optimal state, setting parameters simply through system settings is far from enough, because Microsoft has not optimized the Windows dial-up network, the default network parameter value is set for Ethernet. The size of data packets and receiving windows is not suitable for dial-up Internet access. As a result, the modem cannot reach its maximum potential. So we can explore the potential of this Part to accelerate our network! Therefore, you can get a better access speed by re-optimizing the settings in the registry. This speed increase is not only useful for browsing the network, but also affects operations such as downloading, sending and receiving emails, because it starts from the perspective of making full use of hardware resources. The specific steps are as follows:

First, select the start button on the Windows 9x desktop and click Run Command. In the displayed dialog box, enter the regedit (Registry Editor) command, click OK and expand the following key values in the Registry Editor: "/HKEY _ LOCAL _ MACHINE/Enum/Root/Net/000? ", Find the key that contains the DeviceDesc string with the value of "dial-up network adapter", enter its sub-key bindings, and write down the string value MSTCP 00 ?. Then expand the key value "/HKEY _ LOCAL _ MACHINE/Enum/NetWork/MSTCP/000?" in sequence ?" (? For the MSTCP 00 found above? And find the Driver string, and write down the value NetTrans 00 ?. Then in the key value "/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Class/NetTrans/000 ?" In (? For the NetTrans 00 found above? To add the string value: MaxMTU = 576 (Window9X defaults to 1500 bytes, and the maximum value is 65535 bytes). MaxMTU indicates the maximum TCP/IP transmission unit. The application divides the data to be transmitted into smaller groups for transmission. The standard group size should be 576 bytes. If MaxMTU is greater than 576, groups must be reorganized during transmission to reduce transmission efficiency. The default value of Window9X is 1500, which is the standard group size on Ethernet. If you do not access the INTERNET over Ethernet, change it to 576.

Similarly, add the following string value to the key value "/HKEY _ LOCAL _ MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Vxd/MSTCP": DefaultRcvWindow = 5120 (Window9X defaults to 8192 bytes, the maximum value is 65535 bytes), DefaultTTL = 255 (Window9X defaults to 32, the maximum value is 255), NameSrvQueryTimeout = 3000 (Window9X defaults to 750 milliseconds, and the maximum value is 65535 milliseconds ).

PPPoE software supporting this technology: Any PPPoE virtual dialing software.

Hardware required to support this technology: multiple computers, HUB (10M10/100M adaptive, 100M not supported), adsl modem must support 10Base-T interface (LAN)

Supported Operating Systems: all operating systems supported by ADSL

The Network Theory of this technology: Multiple IP packet headers on a physical line do not affect each other, and there are multiple Working Groups (domains) on the LAN.

Specific implementation methods:

Each computer is connected to the HUB, and the adsl modem is also connected to the HUB. Each computer is installed with its own PPPoE software, when the PPPoE software creates a virtual dial-up file, it can find the ISP's ADSL Service and independently dial the file to obtain its own independent bandwidth.

During this test, eight computers were used to connect to the HUB for independent PPPoE dialing. Each computer was downloaded at the same time, and each computer obtained the corresponding bandwidth without affecting each other, however, the ping response speed is slightly affected, and the 10/100 M Adaptive HUB is recommended. Otherwise, the 10 m hub Packet Conflict is high, which affects the efficiency.

2) Switch)

Now the hub on the market has gradually completed its mission and is about to exit the stage of history. As you know, CSMA/CD (Multi-Channel Access/conflict detection for carrier listeners) is used in Ethernet. For the sender, each time it sends a data message, first, listen to the network. When it detects that the line is empty, it immediately sends data. Otherwise, it continues detection until the line is idle. For the acceptor, first confirm the received signal. If it is sent to itself, it will receive it; otherwise, it will be ignored.

First, we must understand the two concepts of sharing and exchange in the network. For example, if a road with 10 lanes is not marked with a traffic route, a vehicle can only snatch or occupy a road in a disordered state, A vehicle that is prone to traffic jams and reverse driving will crash, reducing the traffic capacity. In order to avoid the above situation, we need to mark the vehicle lines on the road to ensure that each vehicle does its own way and does not interfere with each other. A shared-bandwidth network is equivalent to an unordered state. When the number of data and users exceeds a certain limit, a collision or conflict will occur, leading to a decline in network performance. The exchange network avoids the deficiency of the shared network. The exchange technology is based on the destination address of the transmitted information package, each information packet is sent from the port to the destination port independently to avoid collision with other ports and improve the actual throughput of the network.

The main problem with shared Ethernet is that all users share bandwidth. The actual available bandwidth of each user decreases with the increase of the number of users. This is because when the information is busy, multiple users may compete for one channel, while one channel only occupies one user at a certain time, therefore, a large number of monitoring waits often, resulting in jitters, stagnation, or distortion during signal transmission, seriously affecting network performance. In switched Ethernet, the switch provides a dedicated information channel for each user, unless two source ports attempt to send information to the same destination port at the same time, otherwise, the source port and the target port can communicate at the same time without conflict.

A vswitch works in a different way than a hub. Other connection methods and speed options are basically the same as those of a hub. So in the near future, switches in the LAN will replace hubs. Now, the comrade using the hub should also ask the boss to change the device.
