We often build some wireless LAN for the convenience of life or work. Here we will explain in detail how to improve our network configuration.

Sometimes, to work, we often need to deploy a wireless LAN outdoors. So how should we deploy a wireless LAN so that it can run efficiently to improve work efficiency? In fact, the wireless LAN construction structure is different for different work scenarios. We only need to adapt to local conditions and select the most suitable construction structure according to different work scenarios, in order to ensure that successfully built Wireless LAN is always efficient!

Necessity for building a wireless LAN

Most of the time, people use a wired network as their local area network. After all, the stability and transmission performance of this network are very good. However, building a wired LAN is often restricted by physical locations, at the same time, the construction cost is also relatively expensive, and once the wired LAN is successfully built, it will not be too flexible and convenient to change in the future. Compared with wired LAN, wireless LAN has many incomparable advantages. For example, the layout of Wireless LAN is not subject to physical location restrictions, and the erection cost is not as high as that of wired LAN, the successfully deployed wireless LAN can be easily changed in the future. More importantly, the expansion of the wireless LAN network is very good. For example, it can be compatible with various network connection interface standards, supports and complies with all communication protocol standards. For common access users, it is almost a completely transparent link that can meet the access needs of various client systems. With the help of Wireless LAN, the organization has full control over the lan network, and the operation and maintenance costs of the LAN will be effectively controlled.

Wireless LAN layout details

Using a wireless LAN, we can easily connect a remote LAN to a local LAN seamlessly to build a unified lan network. In a relatively simple lan networking environment, a wireless LAN is often connected to a switch or hub device in the local LAN through an antenna or cable, if the LAN includes multiple working subnets at the same time, the LAN should first be connected to the router of the LAN.

When deploying a wireless LAN, we often need to carefully consider many details to ensure that a successfully established Wireless LAN has high performance. For example, in an attempt to connect to a remote LAN through a wireless LAN, the building where the remote LAN is located should maintain a clear line of sight as much as possible. If the wireless LAN needs to pass through obstacles such as tall buildings or dense trees, the established Wireless LAN transmission performance will not be perfect. After all, those obstacles will directly affect the normal transmission of data signals in the wireless LAN.

When the distance between the remote network and the local LAN is relatively long, we can appropriately reduce the size of the network transmission bandwidth to achieve the purpose of long-distance data transmission. In general, without any obstacle blocking, wireless Internet access signals can transmit a distance of up to 80 kilometers. However, during actual Internet access, the distance that wireless Internet signals can transmit is obviously less than 80 kilometers. Therefore, in areas with obstacles or multiple floors, the distance between wireless LAN transmission cannot be too long, if long-distance wireless transmission is needed, we may try to set up a wireless LAN relay station in the middle so as to bypass the obstacles to the internet signal. To ensure the maximum transmission bandwidth, we can try to connect the wireless LAN to a LAN router that supports redundant channels when wireless LAN signals are transmitted at close distance, in this way, several wireless bridges can be integrated with each other, while the antenna height of the wireless LAN is basically not affected.

Flexible selection of Wireless LAN Structures

When building a wireless LAN outside, we usually have the following types of structures to choose from, such as point-to-point structure, one-to-multiple-point structure, multiple-Point-to-one structure, and hybrid structure. Different structures are suitable for different work scenarios. We must make targeted choices based on the actual situation.

Point-to-point structure

This Wireless LAN construction structure is generally used between two fixed locations that require wireless connection. This construction structure is almost the most commonly used wireless connection method, A wireless LAN network built in this architecture can generally obtain high wireless signal transmission speeds and facilitate remote transmission of wireless Internet signals, it is slightly affected by external signal interference.

One-to-multiple-point structure

This Wireless LAN architecture is often used when a LAN has a central point and multiple remote work points. The wireless LAN built with this structure often has the advantages of low networking cost and simple network maintenance. At the same time, due to the use of an omnidirectional antenna in the LAN center, wireless access debugging is relatively easy. Of course, using this structure to build a wireless LAN also has obvious disadvantages, that is, because the wireless LAN uses an omnidirectional antenna, the Omnidirectional spread of wireless Internet access signals often degrades the transmission power of Internet access signals, which may lead to low transmission rates of wireless signals. For remote work points that are far away from the Work Center, the reliability of wireless Internet access is sometimes not guaranteed. Moreover, because multiple remote workstations share the same wireless node device, the network latency will certainly increase significantly, and the wireless transmission rate will eventually decrease, if the wireless node device in the center is damaged, the entire lan network will be stopped immediately. In addition, all remote workstations use the same working frequency as the wireless center. Once a remote workstation is accidentally disturbed, other remote workstation must change the same working frequency in a timely manner, if multiple remote workstations are affected at the same time, changing the frequency will be even more troublesome and there will be no balance between them.

Multi-point to one-point structure

This Wireless LAN construction structure is an effective combination of multiple point-to-point structures. It is often used in LAN networks with multiple remote work points and a central point, each remote work point has its own corresponding device at the center point. This construction structure often has the advantages of reliable performance and stable transmission. Since each work point adopts a point-to-point transmission mode, once a device in the center is damaged, it only affects the working status of one of the remote work points, but does not directly affect the working status of the LAN. However, when building a relatively large lan network, if each workstation uses a point-to-point transmission mode, the cost of networking will often increase significantly. In addition, because the point-to-point structure is oriented to the antenna selected in both directions, we may encounter some trouble when installing and debugging the device.

Hybrid Structure

This Wireless LAN construction structure is almost applicable to all remote work sites and close-up work points in the LAN, and even to work points with obstacles. when building a relatively complex Wireless LAN network, we can try to use a point-to-point structure, a point-to-point structure, and a point-to-point structure, for example, you can consider using point-to-point connection when setting up a remote work point. You can use a point-to-point connection when setting up a close-range workstation point. You can use a relay connection when setting up a work point with obstacles.

Tips

Many organizations often choose Wireless AP devices with strong signals when building a wireless LAN. They think that the stronger the signal of Wireless AP devices, therefore, the effective signal coverage of a wireless LAN built on the device is larger. In fact, this recognition is incorrect! As you know, the main ways to increase the signal strength of Wireless AP devices are to improve the device's transmit power and enhance the device's antenna gain. If the antenna gain of the selected Wireless AP device is larger, then the signal transmitting capability of Wireless AP devices will become stronger, and the sensitivity of wireless access will naturally be higher. If the launch power of the selected Wireless AP device is higher, the effective signal coverage of the Wireless AP device will be wider, and the penetration capability of the wireless internet signal during transmission will be stronger. However, if the signal of the Wireless AP device is too strong, the effective signal coverage of the wireless LAN is also very large, but the actual controllable range of the area is just getting smaller, the security of Wireless LAN access is significantly affected. For example, in a relatively remote dead-Corner location in a LAN, Internet users may receive wireless signals in a remote location, however, the security of accessing the lan network in this location cannot be effectively guaranteed.
