In the existing wired LAN, you want to use a wireless router to build a local wireless LAN. A wireless router can only be connected to a vswitch. How can I use it?
This type of wireless router is added due to network expansion. When you add this device to the original wired network environment, there are multiple solutions based on the wired network devices and different environments. You can solve the problem as follows.
First, let's take a brief look at the working principle of the wireless router. It integrates wired routing and wireless access functions. Like a wired router, it also provides four LAN ports. The network structure of shared-bandwidth wired access is "ADSL Modem + broadband routing device + switch ". Therefore, if the original wired network uses this structure, it is very simple. The connection method is as follows:
Connect the ADSL line to the ADSL Modem, connect the WAN port of the wired router to the WAN port of the ADSL Modem, and connect any LAN port of the wireless router to any LAN of the wired router. Through such a connection, the remaining LAN ports of the wired router can connect to the fixed desktop, while the wireless router can be used as a pure AP for the mobile shared Internet access of the laptop.
Wired and wireless connection
After completing the hardware connection, follow the product manual to go to the wireless router management interface and change the IP address to the same network segment as the wired network. Then, only configure the "Wireless Settings" parameter of the wireless router, other features, such as WAN port parameters and NAT routing, are disabled. With this configuration, the wireless router is actually a pure AP, which is responsible for distributing the broadband signals of the wired network to the laptop wirelessly. The coexistence of wired and wireless networks is realized.
Supplement: Of course, the ADSL line can first connect to the WAN port of the wireless router, and then connect the wired router to the LAN port of the wireless router. In this way, although the routing functions of the two devices have been used, its drawbacks are also obvious.
In this way, the desktop computer needs to be connected to the Internet through two routes. In practice, the experience gained is that the network speed of the Internet through the route shared bandwidth will be a little slower, and here there will be two routes, the network speed will be slower, and the laptop and desktop will be in two different network segments, and the configuration and mutual access are both complex locks.
Therefore, this method is not recommended. However, this method also has a major advantage, that is, you can use the built-in firewall function of the router to improve network security.
