Build a WebGIS system using open-source software (6) Data Format

The data downloaded from the National Geographic information center is in the shape file format. The shape file data consists of three files, *. SHP, *. DBF, and *. shx, which respectively store space data, attribute data, and the relationship between the two. *. SHP has special software browsing. *. DBF can be viewed in a general text browser, and DBF Files can be edited in Excel.

Data sets supported by open-source GIs are generally WKT and GML. WKT is text-based GIS data, and postgis stores spatial data in WKT format. GML is the GIS data in XML format.

Postgisimplements the shp2pgsql.exe tool, which can convert the SHP file into SQL statements. After executing these SQL commands, You can import the relevant content into the PostgreSQL database. The imported table is as follows:
