Many organizations have established LANs and WANs and run business processes on the web. In fact, as long as a few simple configuration can provide employees with news, information browsing, transmission files, internal mail, seminars, chat and other services. Instead of connecting to the Internet for security reasons, we developed a UNIX-based Brower/server database system on the intranet, using NT4.0, IIS4.0, and FrontPage 98 to build their own web Intranet and FTP service points.
First, install NT4.0 and Microsoft Internet Information Server4.0 (IIS4.0)
NT4.0 bundled IIS1.0, in the installation of NT optional install IIS1.0, but IIS1.0 does not support Chinese directories and Web documents in Chinese name, so I recommend installation IIS4.0, before this must also install Windows NT4.0 Service Pack 5, when NT and IIS installed, the WWW service started, in the "Control Panel" point "services" to see the status of the WWW service, the normal should be "www Publishing service has been started automatically"; FTP Publishing Service has been started automatically "sometimes ftp, www server down and then manually started." In order for all computers that can ping your server (including the WAN) to browse your network, you must choose Start-Programs-Microsoft Internet Server (public)-Internet Services Manager. Set Password authentication in WWW service properties to allow anonymous access and select "Enable Default Document" to fill in the company home page file name. Set "Allow anonymous connections" in the FTP service properties and fill in the FTP username and password you add to your NT Administrative tools (public).
Second, install MS Frontpage 98 and create a Web site
The installation of FrontPage is simple, you can refer to the book completion, FrontPage is the tool to build the homepage, powerful. You can create a new Web site from the beginning of FrontPage Explorer or through the Web Site Wizard.
1. Click the Start button on the taskbar, point to Programs, and then click Microsoft frontgage to start FrontPage Explorer and the Getting Started dialog box to see the root WEB created by IIS , double click Default.htm will automatically start FrontPage Editor open default.htm, modify root The web's Default.htm home page is the company home page, or you can right-click in the folder view to create a new Web page linked to the company homepage, create a new directory to organize your Web page, such as "insurance terms/Accident insurance/travel accident. htm".
