Build mail server with IMail on LAN

Email (e-mail) service is the most widely and most frequently used service in the Internet, and is an important application in LAN intranet. Building an internal email server on the LAN can greatly speed up the rapid transmission of internal documents, and greatly reduce the cost of communication. This paper mainly introduces how to use IMail server to build internal email server to make better use of LAN resources.

1. IMail Installation

IMAIL server is an Internet Information delivery server for Windows NT/2000/XP. It is an easy to use, safe and anti-spam mail server, is used in the LAN to carry out email communication and management of sending and receiving information an excellent solution.

In addition there are some Chinese versions of IMail, where we choose Chinese imail Server V8.01

1 installation, double-click the installation file to start the installation program;

2 Click the Next button to open the Official Host Name dialog box and enter the name of the host in the text box;

3 Click the Next button to open the Datebase Options dialog box and select the data used for the IMAIL server in the dialog box;

4 Click the Next button to select a path for the IMAIL installation, which is installed by default in C:\IMAIL.

5 Click the Next button to open the SMTP Relay Option dialog box to select the default no mail Relay;

6) Click the Next button to open the Service Start Options dialog box, in which we can select the default boot services for IMAIL. The IMail SMTP server and imail Queue Manager Service check boxes are selected by default;

7 Click the Next button to continue the installation and whether to create a new user selection after installation. Here we can not build until the use of the build, and the installation completes the system will automatically create a root user;

2. IMAIL Basic Configuration

After IMAIL installation, for the first time, we can find the installed IMail from the "Start"--> "program", and there are several items in its cascading menu, in which IMail Adiministrator is the management window that we configure for the IMAIL server, and IMail Client is the mail client of IMail.

iMAL Administrator after the main window is started, you should first review its service startup situation, start multiple services depending on your needs, start by selecting Services in the left pane of the main window, select the service that you want to start in the right window, and then click the Start button. such as starting SMTPD32, POP3D32, queuemgr services

After startup, you can view service startup results from a command prompt. For example, Telnet 192.168.0.1 110 to view POP3 service startup.

In the basic configuration we mainly grasp the most basic and most commonly used, such as the addition of new user Configuration.

1 Open imail Administrator main window, select Users in the left pane, right-click;

2 Select the secondary menu add user, open the Add New User dialog box, in the user name input mymail;
3) Click "Next" button, enter the full name of the user, do not lose;

4 Click "Next" button, enter password and Confirm password;

5) Click "Next" button, new user to create a complete, so far, we created a IMail mail server named MyMail@ajiu.com;

6) Click MyMail in the left pane to see the basic properties of mymail, if you need to configure other basic properties to select other tabs such as "Use Directory", "plan", etc.

3. IMail send and receive mail test

After the newly created user mailbox Basic Properties configuration is complete, you can perform a mailbox test, optionally imail client or other mail agent tools such as Outlook Express and Foxmail to send incoming messages.

1 Use IMAIL client to send email;

A) Start IMail client, select Administrator user Root@ajiu.com;

(b) Access to the root user's send and receive mail window;

c Click the Send button in the above image to send a test message to MyMail@ajiu.com;

d Click the Send button when you are finished editing the message. 　　The message was sent over. 2 use Outlook Express to receive mail;

A) Start Outlook EXPRESS, select the account under the Tools menu, and configure it;

(b) According to the Internet Connection Wizard, send the name of the message displayed for the MyMail@ajiu.com configuration.

c) Click "Next" button, enter the mailbox MyMail@ajiu.com;

D Click the Next button to configure the mailbox for the incoming mail server (POP3) and the outgoing mail server (SMTP), where we must enter the IP address of the host to which the IMAIL server software is installed as the server address for receiving and sending the message;

E Click the Next button to enter the user's mymail mailbox password;

f) Click "Next" button to complete the configuration;

(g) Click the "Close" button to complete the configuration of the MyMail@ajiu.com in Outlook Express;

h) Click the Outlook Express main Window menu to receive messages;

i) after receiving, we found that the current user MyMail@ajiu.com has a new mail welcome, from Root@ajiu.com, sent and received the test completed, in the future can be free to send the LAN internal mail.

4. IMAIL Advanced Configuration

In the advanced configuration, we mainly introduce the "use directory", "rule", "Vacation settings", "Information management" and other 4 cell key cards, to set a more advanced service configuration for MyMail mailboxes.

1 The use of the directory: Mailbox users to configure the maximum capacity and maximum number of letters. The default is 0, which indicates that the maximum capacity and maximum number of letters in the mailbox are based on host hosts. If you set a value of 0 in host hosts, the mailbox capacity and number of letters are unlimited, and if you need to qualify, enter a number in the input box after "Mailbox maximum Capacity" in bytes ( Bytes), enter a positive integer after the maximum number of letters, and then click the Apply button.

2) Rules: mainly for the rejection of the mail set, assuming that we increase the sender's address in the rule is Test@ajiu.com; the rules are rejected, then messages sent from Test@ajiu.com to Mymail@ajiu.com will not be delivered to mymail@ In ajiu.com.

And in the Test@ajiu.com mailbox will receive a letter from the system return letter notification.

3 Vacation settings: In the user mymail leave the message can be received through the "Leave settings" information content to notify the sender, to the sender of an automatic reply to the sender of the current user can not respond normally. This setting replies only once to the sender.

4) Information Management: This tab is set for automatic reply and automatic forwarding, and the current user MyMail sends an automatic reply letter to the sender after receiving each message, containing the contents of the message, and forwarding the letter to Root@ajiu.com, which is also different from the "Leave setting".
