Building a LAN mail server with IMail server

Building an internal email server in the local area network can not only speed up the transmission of internal documents, but also reduce the communication cost greatly. Today, I'll show you how to use IMail server to build an internal email server, with the help of which we can easily get secure and reliable mail services.

First, the installation of IMail

IMAIL server is an Internet Information delivery server for Windows NT/2000/XP. It is an easy to use, safe and anti-spam mail server, is used in the LAN to carry out email communication and management of sending and receiving information an excellent solution.

In addition there are some Chinese version of the IMail, we choose the Chinese version of the IMail Server V8.01.

1, installation, double-click the installation file to start the installation program;

2, click the Next button, open the Official Host Name dialog box, in the text box to enter the name of the host;

3, click the Next button to open the Datebase Options dialog box, in the dialog box for the IMAIL server to select the data used;

4, click the Next button for IMAIL installation selection path, by default installed in C:imail;

5, click the Next button, open the SMTP Relay Option dialog box, you can choose the default no mail Relay;

6, click the Next button, open the Service Start Options dialog box, in the box, we can choose the default start service IMail. The IMail SMTP server and imail Queue Manager Service check boxes are selected by default;

7, click the Next button to continue the installation, and then whether the new user selection after installation. In this case we can not build it until we use it, and the installation completion system will automatically create a root user.
Second, the basic configuration of IMail

After IMAIL installation, for the first time, we can find the installed IMail from the "Start"-> "program", and there are several items in its cascading menu, in which IMail Adiministrator is the management window that we configure for the IMAIL server, and IMail Client is the mail client of IMail.

iMAL Administrator after the main window is started, you should first review its service startup situation, start multiple services depending on your needs, start by selecting Services in the left pane of the main window, select the service that you want to start in the right window, and then click the Start button. such as starting SMTPD32, POP3D32, queuemgr services. After startup, you can view service startup results from a command prompt, such as Telnet 192.168.0.1 110 to view POP3 service startup.

In the basic configuration we mainly grasp the most basic and most commonly used, such as the addition of new user Configuration.

1, open IMail Administrator main window, in the left pane to select Users, right-click;

2, select the middle-level menu add user, Open Add New User dialog box, in the user name input mymail;

3, click the "Next" button, enter the full name of the user, do not lose;

4, click the "Next" button, enter the password and Confirm password;

5, click the "Next" button, the new user to create a complete, so far, we have created a IMail mail server named MyMail@ajiu.com user;

6, click the MyMail in the left pane to see the basic properties of mymail, if you need to configure other basic properties to select other tabs such as "Use Directory", "Schedule" and so on.

Third, IMail send and receive mail test

After the newly created user mailbox Basic Properties configuration is complete, you can perform a mailbox test, optionally imail client or other mail agent tools such as Outlook Express and Foxmail to send incoming messages.

1, use IMAIL client to send email.
1 Start imail client, select Admin user Root@ajiu.com;

2 access to the root of the sending and receiving mail window;

3) Click the Send button to send a test message to MyMail@ajiu.com;

4 after the message is edited, click the Send button and the message is sent to the end.

2, use Outlook Express to receive mail.

1 Start Outlook EXPRESS, select the account under the Tools menu and configure it;

2 According to the Internet Connection Wizard, send the name of the message to the MyMail@ajiu.com configuration;

3) Click "Next" button, enter the mailbox MyMail@ajiu.com;

4) Click the Next button to configure the mail server (POP3) and send mail server (SMTP) for the mailbox, where we must enter the host IP address of the IMAIL Server Software installation as the server address for receiving and sending mail;

5) Click the "Next" button to enter the user's mymail mailbox password;

6) Click "Next" button, configuration complete;

7 Click the "Close" button to complete the configuration of MyMail@ajiu.com in Outlook Express;

8 Click the Outlook Express main Window menu to receive mail;

9 after receiving, we found that the current user MyMail@ajiu.com has a new mail welcome, from Root@ajiu.com, sent and received the test completed, in the future can be free to send the LAN internal mail.

Iv. Advanced Configuration of IMail

In the advanced configuration, we mainly introduce 4 kinds of tabs, such as "Use directory", "rule", "vacation setting", "Information management", to set more advanced service configuration for MyMail mailboxes.

1, the use of directory: Mailbox users to configure the maximum capacity and maximum number of letters. The default is 0, which indicates that the maximum capacity and maximum number of letters in the mailbox are based on host hosts. If you set a value of 0 in host hosts, the mailbox capacity and number of letters are unlimited, and if you need to qualify, enter a number in the input box after "Mailbox maximum Capacity" in bytes ( Bytes), enter a positive integer after the maximum number of letters, and then click the Apply button.

2, rules: mainly for the rejection of the mail set, assuming that we add to the rule of the sender address for Test@ajiu.com; the rules are rejected, so future messages sent from Test@ajiu.com to Mymail@ajiu.com will not be delivered to mymail@ In ajiu.com. And in the Test@ajiu.com mailbox will receive a letter from the system return letter notification.

3, leave the setting: in the user MyMail vacation period receives the message to be possible through "the vacation setting" the information content informs the sender, gives the sender an automatic reply, tells the sender the current user does not reply normally, this setting to the sender only replies once.

4. Information management: This tab is set for automatic reply and automatic forwarding, and the current user MyMail sends an automatic reply letter to the sender after receiving each message, containing the contents of the message, and forwarding the letter to Root@ajiu.com, which is also different from the "Leave setting".
