Call an Office document directly from the FTP server

Office components, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and so on, provide the ability to invoke files directly from the FTP server, enabling you to open, edit, and save documents that are supported in FTP as easily as you can with local documents.

You do this by selecting Find range as FTP location in the Open dialog box, then double-click the Add/Change FTP location icon, enter the IP address of the FTP server in the FTP Site name box, and then set the "anonymous" login or log in using the user name and password according to the user's permissions. Once identified, the site is added to the FTP Sites list. You can then perform the appropriate action on the documents in the site in the Open dialog box.
