Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/MySQL. Sock' (2)

If you got this error info in Linux, it because you have not start MySQL,

You can run the following command to start MySql in the directory MySQL/bin

 

[Root @ uswin2003sp1 bin] # service mysqld start
Start MYSQL:[OK]
[Root @ uswin2003sp1 bin] #
[Root @ uswin2003sp1 bin] # mysql-u root-P
Enter password:
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. commands end with; or/g.
Your MySQL connection ID is 2 to server version: 5.0.22

Type 'help; 'or'/H' for help. type'/C' to clear the buffer.

Mysql>
