[Lab environment]

Cisco Packet Tracer 5.3.2

[PURPOSE]

I will not describe the basic commands of Cisco IOS too much. I will focus on some common Cisco IOS skills to improve the efficiency of subsequent experiments.

[Experiment topology]

Lab procedure]

1. Configure the Cisco Packet Tracer according to the topology and select Console port connection.

2. Double-click PC0 or PC1 and select Terminal Mode for serial port connection.

3. Continue with configuration dialog? Select NO to enter the manual configuration mode.

The above steps are the same in the real environment: first use the Console line to connect the Cisco device and the PC, then enable the Super Terminal to connect to the Cisco device, and finally enter the manual configuration mode. In the future experiment, you can directly click the Cisco device (switch, router) and select CLI mode for configuration. In fact, it is equivalent to configuring in Console mode and will not be repeated in the future. Both methods can be used.

4. Try to use the shortest abbreviation to improve the input efficiency.

This will be reflected in future command input. If you do not know the complete command, you can use the tab key to complete the query after each abbreviation.

5. Configure the host name to easily identify the console when controlling multiple devices.

5. Configure the privileged mode password. Only the encrypted mode is recommended. Security is the first.

Slyar-Router1> en (enable, in privileged Mode)
Slyar-Router1 # conf t (configure terminal, entering global configuration mode)
Slyar-Router1 (config) # ena s slyar.com (enable secret, encrypted in privileged Mode)

5. Disable host name DNS resolution.

Whether it is a Cisco router or a Cisco switch, the DNS resolution of the host name is enabled by default. This causes IOS to use the wrong command as the host name for resolution when you enter the wrong command, this process usually takes 1-2 minutes and cannot be terminated, for example:

Slyar-Router1 # slyar
Translating "slyar"... domain server (255.255.255.255)
% Unknown command or computer name, or unable to find computer address

Therefore, we recommend that you disable the domain-lookup feature When configuring the device ).

6. Common console interface configurations

Slyar-Router1 (config) # lin con 0 (entering Console port configuration mode)
Slyar-Router1 (config-line) # logg s (logging synchronous to prevent console information from interrupting the command)
Slyar-Router1 (config-line) # exec-t 00 (in lab environment, never automatically exit the console)
Slyar-Router1 (config-line) # pass slyar.com (in actual environment, encrypted Console port login)

7. Configure Telnet remote login (note that both the vty password and enable password are required for remote login)

Slyar-Router1 (config) # lin vty 0 4 (configure vty line 0-4)
Slyar-Router1 (config-line) # logg s
Slyar-Router1 (config-line) # pass slyar.com (configure Telnet remote login password)
Slyar-Router1 (config-line) # login (enable remote login)

8. Quickly Save the runtime configuration file to the startup configuration file.

Copy running-config startup-config is written in this command book.
