This seriesArticleThe purpose is to explain how to set up some required servers on centos 5.3, including Apache web server, Postfix email server, FTP server, DNS server, MySQL, firewall, and so on. The steps in this series of articles are tested on the x64 version of centos 5.3, but you can follow the same steps on the x32 version. In this series of articles, we will use the following software:
Web server: Apache 2.2, PHP 5.1.6
Database Server: MySQL 5.0
Email server: Postfix
DNS server: bind9 (chrooted)
FTP server: ProFTPD
POP3/imap server: Dovecot
Webalizer for Web server statistics Hardware and software requirements
First you need to download and burn the centos 5.3 installation DVD and you can select a 64-bit machine installation disk from the http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/5/isos/x86_64. For 32-bit machines, download: http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/5/isos/ I /. After downloading the ISO file, you need to burn it out. Note that the installation file of the DVD may be BT seed (. torrent file). If you need to burn the DVD, you need a Bt client.
Install the Operating System
Start the computer from the burned DVD or the first CD, and press Enter when selecting the Boot Mode menu:
In the following screen, if you do not want to waste a lot of time, you can skip the test:
After the welcome screen is displayed, select next:
Then select a language. For convenience, select English. You can select Chinese if you like:
Then select the keyboard layout. You can keep the default options directly.
Then you need to select the disk partition. If you are installing centos on a clean machine, you can directly partition according to the default options:
Next is the network settings. The default option here is to allocate IP addresses through DHCP. However, since it is a server configuration, you may need to manually set the network, select the "edit" button to manually configure it:
In the following dialog box, select "enable IPv4 support" to configure an IPv4 address, select "manual configuration", and fill in the IP address and subnet mask:
Then manually set the Host Name and DNS Server:
Select the time zone:
Configure the root password:
