1. Introduction to centos
Centos is one of the releases of Linux. It is safe, stable, and efficient. It is one of my favorite releases of Linux. Centos is compiled based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux open source code, which is essentially different from RedHat Linux. However, Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a commercial software and must be paid to RedHat, while centos does not have any restrictions on usage. If you need enterprise-level operating system stability and do not want to pay for service support, centos will be your best choice.
Ii. Download centos
Currently, the latest version of centos is 6.2 ,:

Iii. centos Installation Steps
After the download is complete, two installation image files (CentOS-6.2-i386-bin-DVD1, CentOS-6.2-i386-bin-DVD2), The installation system only uses the first image file (CentOS-6.2-i386-bin-DVD1), Another image file (CentOS-6.2-i386-bin-DVD2) Is the attached software package. For ease of demonstration, I use vmware workstation 8 for installation. Specific hardware configuration
Load the image file, start the power supply, and start to install centos 6.2.
Enter the welcome page
Select the first item for installation (Press ENTER), Meaning:

- Install or upgrade an existing system
- Install the system with a basic graphics card driver
- Enter System Repair Mode
- Hard Disk boot
Whether to test the image Installation(Just go through it)
Start setting centos 6.2 (directly next)
Set the language and keyboard type displayed during installation(Here I select English, but also Chinese. Retain the default keyboard type)
Select storage device type(First item: basic storage device)
Format hard disk(Select Yes, discart any data)
Set Computer Name(Just give a name. If you are too lazy, the default value will apply)Select time zone(Select Asia/Shanghai)
Set the root user password
Select the installation (partition) Method(Manually set the Mount partition, select create custom layout)
Mount partition (Click Create to create a partition. By default, stantard partition (Standard partition) is selected. Select a mount point and partition size to create a partition)
The following is my partition method (you can select different partitions for different purposes, and do not forget the swap partition). Click Next and select format (format ), select write change to disk (write the Partition Table to the hard disk)
Install the loader(Default)
Select the software to install (minimum installation by default. If you need to install the desktop, select the first desktop). Click Next to start the system installation.
Installation Complete, Click Reboot to restart
To start centos for the first time, you need to perform some general settings on centos, just click forward.
Create a common userLinux does not recommend using the root user to operate on the system. The root permission is too high, and Misoperation may cause the system to crash. Therefore, we recommend that you use a common user. If you need the root user permission, you can switch between them.
Set system time
Set kdumpA warning is displayed. (In fact, I am not using kdump for the moment, so I don't need to set it. Finish it directly ).
On the login page, enter the user name and password To Go To The centos desktop. The installation is complete.
