After the CentOS 6 update, the inevitable will generate multiple kernel options in the startup option, a kernel file of approximately 100 trillion (below 100M), you can use the following command to remove the extra kernel.

1. First list the kernel that is being used in the system:

# uname-a

2. Query the entire kernel of the system:

# Rpm-qa | grep kernel

3. Delete the kernel you want to delete: (for example, in my system, I want to delete the 2.6.32-71.el6.i686 kernel, all the words containing 2.6.32-71.el6.i686 must be deleted)

#yum Remove kernel-2.6.32-71.el6.i686

#yum Remove kernel-devel-2.6.32-71.el6.i686

4. After the reboot can be seen, the kernel was deleted, and the extra startup items are automatically deleted, do not need to manually modify/boot/grub/menu.lst
