EPEL

EPEL software warehouse (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL)

Built by the Fedora community, it provides high-quality software packages for RHEL and derivative releases such as CentOS and Scientific Linux.

With EPEL installed, you can install the software through yum install package-name, just like on Fedora.

EPEL installation is very simple rpm-ivhhttp: // dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

Upgrade the kernel,

Install kernel-lt (lt = long-term)

Yum -- enablerepo = elrepo-kernel install kernel-lt-y

You can also install kernel-ml (ml = mainline)

Yum -- enablerepo = elrepo-kernel install kernel-ml-y
