centos6.2 Text Interface installation configuration Wireless Card Tutorial

1. View the machine's unlimited network card models and other information

#lsusb

2. Decompression and installation drive

#tar VXPF rtl*.tar.gz

#cd rtl*

#make

#make Install

I have been prompted for errors during the installation process. It seems that the compiler did not install the software, and then no matter, the direct reload system, after reloading will be the system development software loaded in, learning, there is no way, or else to find the installation, and not networking, can not yum installation. After the command is executed, a driver file named 8712u.ko is generated in this directory

3. Copy the driver file to the driver module directory

#cp-P 8712u.ko/lib/modules/2.6.18-128.el5/kernel/drivers/net/

It is said that it can also be placed in the wireless directory, the Wireless folder is also inside the/lib/modules/2.6.18-128.el5/kernel/drivers/net/.

4. Load Drive Module

#insmod/lib/modules/2.6.18-128el5/kernel/drivers/net/8712u.ko

or enter this command: #modprobe 8712u.ko

5. See if the module is loaded successfully

#lsmod | grep 8712u

[Root@localhost net]# Lsmod | grep 8712u

8712u 311196 0

At this time the driver has been installed successfully, open the system-Management-Network dialog box, still do not see the wireless network card information, and then execute the command:

#service NetworkManager Start

Note that the case of Linux is a distinction between the case, the execution of this command, the upper right corner of the connection icon, click to view and select the SSID to access, enter the password can be.

System from the original 6.2 upgrade to 6.3 after the USB wireless card driver automatically lost, follow the steps above to make made install again, found/lib/modules/2.6.18* folder has not, will 8712u.ko copy to/lib/ modules/2.6.32-220.23.1.el6.i686/kernel/drivers/net/, then load the driver module, the wireless card can be used.
