tab this week Michael Geisler answered an enthusiastic Builder Australian reader about renaming the tabs in the Netbeans integrated development environment.
Hello, Michael. I ran into a problem when I was using Netbeans. I tried to drag a dockable pane onto an applet form and drag a few more panels onto that pane. Panels are automatically named "Tab1" and "Tab2". How do I change their names?

I'm not surprised that you can't find the right attributes. The Tab Title attribute is hidden in a very inconspicuous place. For any panel you've added to the pane, click the Layout tab of its property page, and you'll see three properties.
These properties allow you to change the display properties of each tab, including the tab icon, ToolTips, and, of course, the tab title.
For those who have not seen it for a while, I suggest you browse. A beta version of Netbeans 3.6 has improved a lot now and has become a reliable tool. It is now more responsive and has a fully reconstructed window system, with a significant increase in efficiency and usability. Of course, the best part is that it's open source and free.
