Change the recycle bin to a private site

In Windows, the "recycle bin" is a temporary storage place for deleted files. Before the "Clear recycle bin" operation is executed, the files stored there are not actually deleted from the hard disk, if you want to restore accidentally deleted files, you can also restore them from the recycle bin. Therefore, the recycle bin can also be used to restore accidentally deleted files. However, it also has a purpose and is a very useful purpose. This is to use it to hide personal files. The following uses Windows 98 as an example to describe it.

In Windows 98, there is a "hidden" folder Recycled under the root directory of each hard disk partition, which is the actual location of the recycle bin.

Deleted files are temporarily stored in the "recycle bin". Only after the "recycle bin" is cleared, the content temporarily stored in the "recycle bin" is deleted from the hard disk. In Windows 98, you cannot view files in the Recycled subdirectory by using the "Search" function. You can only view the files in the "recycle bin" or by using the resource manager. I believe you know this, but you may not know the other characteristics of Recycled. This is to use the "COPY" command in DOS mode to COPY files to the Recycled subdirectory, neither the "recycle bin" nor the resource manager can be displayed. Even if you perform the "clear" Operation on the "recycle bin, these files are still retained in the "Recycled" subdirectory, and in MS-DOS mode, if you do not use the "CD" command to enter the Recycled subdirectory, in any other path, even if the "DIR/S" command does not find the Recycled subdirectory.

Because of this, we can use the recycle bin feature to convert the recycle bin into a safe deposit box for files to back up or store files and materials, especially those documents that do not want others to see.

The procedure is as follows:

First in the MS-DOS mode, enter the Recycled directory, use the "RD" command to create a dedicated subdirectory.

Use the "attrib + h" command to set the dedicated sub-directory to "hidden", and the "safe" of personal files is built.

The following task is to put your files in the "safe". This step is very simple. You only need to copy the files to be hidden in the DOS state to this subdirectory.

In addition to being familiar with Windows systems and having certain "research" skills on the "recycle bin", files saved in this way are generally invisible to users. If you change the File Attribute stored in the "recycle bin" to "hidden" and "buried", the effect would be better.
