Character encoding in npgsql1.01

Use a connection string in C #

"Server = 172.16.0.2; Port = 5432; user id = user; Password = 2008; database = testdb ;"

Connect to the PostgreSQL database and run the following statement:

"Insert into mytable (Message) values ('test ');"

Error:

Error: 22021: Invalid byte sequence for encoding "utf8": 0xba

 

The reason is of course related to character encoding. The solution is to adjust the connection string:

"Server = 172.16.0.2; Port = 5432; user id = user; Password = 2008; database = testdb;Encoding = Unicode"

 

Note: My PostgreSQL is UTF-8 encoded.
