3G licenses have finally opened a mysterious veil, but in fact, China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom's three major operators began to stand out as early as the end of last year, quietly entering the era of full-service operation competition.
An equipment vendor insider told the First Financial Daily that China Mobile began to build fixed networks in parts of Jiangsu province at the end of last year. "China Mobile has a great disadvantage in the last 100 meters of broadband access ." Once China Mobile expands its fixed network construction pilot, this means tens of billions of yuan of orders.
"The competition for full business operation and 3G is the focus of a new round of competition in the telecom industry ." Dongfang Securities analysts also said that China Mobile's biggest disadvantage lies in the lack of fixed network resources and relatively weak integration services.
Test the fixed network
Short board complementing is imminent.
China Mobile Jiangsu Branch (hereinafter referred to as "Jiangsu Mobile") learned that Jiangsu Mobile launched the first batch of optical fiber access project in November 2008, began to deploy FTTx in the province ). Beacon Telecom won the FTTx contract for many places in Jiangsu, including Suzhou.
Jiangsu Mobile's first FTTx pilot project mainly includes three applications: mobile business office, high-end commercial buildings, and big customer data services with high APRU values. Because the first batch of projects are mainly for commercial users, the project requires strong full-service support capabilities to provide up to Mbps of bandwidth while supporting ultra-high-speed Internet access services, provides the ability to carry out hd iptv and interactive video services, and retains support for telephone and TDM leased line services.
An internal expert of Jiangsu Mobile pointed out that with the arrival of the era of full-service operation, China Mobile's desire to develop high-speed broadband networks and services is even more urgent. Besides in Jiangsu, guangdong and other developed provinces are also carrying out FTTx pilot projects.
"In the past few years, China Netcom has developed many broadband users and built many fixed network resources in the South ." Insiders of the above equipment vendors pointed out that China Netcom has already been integrated into China Unicom, and such resources are also integrated into China Unicom. China Telecom's traditional advantages in network resources in the South are very obvious, the competition among telecom operators in the South is fierce. The Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta are also one of the regions with the largest number of Chinese mobile users.
This person pointed out that although wireless broadband is a general trend in the age of full-service competition, fixed-line broadband is also an organic supplement, and China Mobile cannot build fixed-line networks.
Tietong figure
At present, China Mobile's broadband services and users need to expand through the original resources of Tietong.
"Although the merger between Tietong and China Mobile has not yet been completed, the efforts to promote broadband services have been significantly strengthened based on the future development direction ." Guangdong Tietong people told the First Financial Daily that at present, each branch of Tietong has begun to cooperate with the local mobile branch to promote Tietong broadband products. For example, Yangzhou Mobile launched a one-year broadband sales promotion with a pre-charged charge of 600 yuan.
Xing Xingcan, Guangdong Tietong marketing director, said that Tietong has developed a considerable number of broadband users using its original resources in recent years. Guangdong Tietong currently has 0.45 million broadband users, accounting for about 5% of Guangdong broadband users. At present, TieTong's capital clearance work has come to an end. Even if it is merged with China Mobile, the broadband business will certainly be a key business in the future.
In fact, China Mobile is more than just deploying broadband services.
Zhao Guoyu, an analyst at iSuppli China Telecom, revealed that China Mobile has recently completed tests on Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON), and the core of EPON technology is broadband access. However, judging from the current situation, China Mobile mainly relies on Tietong to expand its individual broadband users. The pilot of fixed network broadband is intended for industrial users.
