China Information and Communications Research Institute released 5g White Paper
In the global telecom market, although 4g construction is still in full swing, the 5g standard competition has quietly started. Yesterday, the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group held a 5G concept White Paper conference in Beijing. Cao Shumin, leader of the Promotion Team and president of China Information and Communications Research Institute, pointed out that 5g work is entering the standard formulation stage from preliminary research, "setting a globally unified 5g standard" has become a common voice of the global industry.
It is reported that the International Telecommunication Union has started 5G standards research work, and clarified the IMT-2020 work plan: 2015 will complete the preliminary research of IMT-2020 international standards, 5G technical performance requirements and evaluation methods will be carried out in 2016, 5g candidate solutions will be launched by the end of 2017, and standards will be formulated by the end of 2020.
With the R & D and accumulation of previous generations of technologies at the commanding heights of global communication standards, China has changed from a leader role. At 5g, the Chinese communication enterprises headed by Huawei and ZTE and old giants such as Ericsson are on the same starting line. In the five years from 2013 to 2018, Huawei spent more than $0.6 billion on 5g research and innovation. There is no doubt that Chinese enterprises will play an important role in this disruptive change of communication technology.
