Chkconfig and chkconfig commands

Chkconfig level:

0: Shutdown

1: single-user mode

2: multi-user mode without network support

3: multi-user mode with network support

4: reserved, not used

5: multi-user mode with network support and X-Windows (GUI) Support

6. reboot the system.

 

Do not restart upon startup:

# Chkconfig server off

Server 0: off 1: off 2: off 3: off 4: off 5: off 6: off

The output above is 0 ~ If all six are off, it indicates that the instance is not started.

Enable auto-start:

# Chkconfig server on
