Displays or specifies whether the automated system check that is scheduled when you start the computer is running on FAT, FAT32, or NTFS volumes.

Parameters
Volume: [...]
You must specify a drive letter (Colon delimited), mount point, or volume name. Displays information that identifies the file system of the specified volume. If an automatic file check is scheduled to run, this parameter displays a message indicating whether the volume has been corrupted (requires Chkdsk to be run).
/d
Restores all chkntfs defaults except for the countdown to automatic file checking. When the computer starts, the default action is to check all volumes.
t [[:]timefield]
Change the countdown time for the start of the Autochk.exe to the time value specified by input, in seconds. If not specified: time,/t will display the current countdown time.
/x Volume:
The specified volume is not checked when the computer starts, even if the volume is marked as needing chkdsk.
/C Volume:
Schedule the check time for the specified volume when the computer starts.

Comments
To run Chkntfs, you must be a member of the Administrators group.
Although you can set the countdown time for Autochk.exe to zero, doing so will not eliminate the potential time consuming automatic file checking.
Example
To display the countdown time for the Autochk.exe start, type:

chkntfs/t

To change the countdown time for the start of the Autochk.exe, type the time in seconds. For example, to change the countdown time to 30 seconds, type:

Chkntfs/t:30

/x Command-Line options cannot be used cumulatively. If you type this option more than once, its most recently typed entry replaces the item that you typed earlier. To exclude multiple volumes, list all volumes in a single command. For example, to exclude E: and F: volumes, type:

chkntfs/x e:f:

To exclude only the F: volume, type:

chkntfs/x e:

chkntfs/x F:

The/C command-line option can be used cumulatively. If you only need to check the specified volume, first reset the defaults to clear any previous commands, then exclude all volumes from the check, and finally schedule automatic file checking on the desired volume.

For example, to schedule automatic file checking on the D: volume, type:

chkntfs/d

chkntfs/x c:d:e:
