Router upgrade
IOS
Summary
Step 1:
Note:Using a TFTP server software with cisco TFTPServer or 3 CDaemon), 3Cdaemon is faster when the transmitted files are too large. 1. first, place the IOS file in the specified directory and enable the TFTP server software. 2. use the USB to switch to the console line to connect the router to the PC and use the CRT login software for configuration. The GI0/0 address of the router is set to 10.10.10.1 mask 255.255.255.0; the PC address is set to 10.10.10.2 mask 255.255.255.0 in the same network segment). Note: Before the upgrade, the original IOS is backed up to prevent any problems with the new IOS.
Back up IOS
Command:1) dir flash: view the current IOS image file name, which can also be rouote # show version); 2) Route # copy flash tftp (Backup IOS); Address or name of remote host? 10.10.10.2 (the TFTP server address is the PC address); Destination filename? Original IOS name. Press enter ).
Upgrade IOS
Command:(1) Route # copy tftp flash upgrade IOS) Address or name of remote host? 10.10.10.2 (the TFTP server address is the PC address) Source filename? The c3825-spservicesk9-mz.150-1.M.bin IOS name to upgrade) Destination filename? The c3825-spservicesk9-mz.150-1.M.bin target file name) Do you want to over write? {Confirm} (Press ENTER) 2) after the upgrade, restart and check show flash or show version. Then delete the original flash delete flash: oldflash_name. When an error occurs in IOS or the erase flash command is accidentally used, there are two methods to upgrade IOS.
Troubleshooting Method 1:
Xmodem-c newflash_name
Command upgradeRommon2> xmodem-c c3825-spservicesk9-mz.150-1.M.bin (-c is a validated, c3825-spservicesk9-mz.150-1.M.bin for IOS image files stored on a PC) WANGING: All existing data in bootflash will be lost! Invoke this application only for disaster recovery. Do you wish to countinue? Y/n select Y at the same time in the transmission topic of the Super Terminal => select the Send File option => In the select Xmodem and specify the path of the IOS image, start uploading IOS by sending, however, the waiting time is too long. To increase the transmission rate, make these preparations before: Enter the ROM monitoring mode, that is, rommon 1> rommon 1> confreg press ENTER Configuration Summaryenabled are: load rom after netboot failsconsole baud: 9600 boot: image specified by the boot system commandsor default to: cisco2-C2600do you wish to change the configuration? Y/n [n]: y (select yes) enable "diagnostic mode "? Y/n [n]: n (Select no) enable "use net in IP bcast address "? Y/n [n]: n (Select no) disable "load rom after netboot fails "? Y/n [n]: n (Select no) enable "use all zero broadcast "? Y/n [n]: n (Select no) enable "break/abort has effect "? Y/n [n]: n (Select no) enable "ignore system config info "? Y/n [n]: n (Select no) change console baud rate? Y/n [n]: y (select yes) enter rate: 0 = 9600, 1 = 4800, 2 = 1200, 3 = 24004 = 19200, 5 = 38400, 6 = 57600, 7 = 115200 [0]: 7 (select 7, use the xmodem transmission with the maximum rate of 115200) change the boot characteristics? Y/n [n]: n (Select no) Configuration Summaryenabled are: load rom after netboot failsconsole baud: 115200 boot: image specified by the boot system commandsor default: cisco2-C2600do you wish to change the configuration? Y/n [n]: n (Select no) You must reset or power cycle for new config to take too trommon 2> reset press ENTER
Note 1: Before entering the reset key, modify the Setting speed to 115200 in the Super Terminal. Remember, do this! Otherwise, garbled characters will appear! After restarting, the transmission speed will increase significantly.
Note 2: After the transmission of IOS, you must enter the monitoring mode to change the speed back to the original 9600, and change the transmission rate of the terminal to the original 9600. Then, restart the terminal.
Troubleshooting method 2
: Enter in monitoring mode: Case Sensitive)Rommon2> IP_ADDRESS = 10.10.22.1 (router IP address) Rommon3> IP_SUBNET_MASK = 255.255.255.0 (router mask) Rommon5> DEFAULT_GATEWAY = 10.10.22.2 (default gateway, is the PC address Rommon6> TFTP_SERVER = 10.10.22.2 (is the pc ip address) Rommon7> TFTP_FILE = The Name Of The c3825-spservicesk9-mz.150-1.M.bin to upload the IOS file) Rommon8> Sync save parameter configuration) Rommon9> set view) rommon10> tftpdnld Transfer File) The system prompts you to select Y.
Note:: If an error is reported during transmission and the command is not executed, use the command sync to save the configuration. It is best to turn off the power when the vro is restarted.) After the instance is started, run the tftpdnld command.
Troubleshooting method 3:1. install the flash card of the router in the faulty router for guidance; 2. after the boot, re-install the flash card of the faulty router; 3. use the TFTP server software for IOS transmission upgrade. The problem encountered: the flash of a vro is deleted to make the system unable to boot. Solution: troubleshooting method 1: in monitoring mode, use the xmodem-c newflash_name command to upgrade. troubleshooting method 2: use TFTP to transfer IOS in monitoring mode. troubleshooting method 3: use a router flash card for guidance.
