Cisco iOS Recovery method

iOS is the core of router switch devices, iOS full name Internet operate system, Chinese is the meaning of the network operating system. He is like the computer operating system windows, although it is software but there are problems can not do any software operation. So if there's a problem with iOS, the routing switch will not work and the configuration commands will be gone. We can only fix it by reinstalling iOS.

This article takes Cisco 3550 as an example to introduce the iOS recovery method:

The first step: Connect the switch console port with the computer serial 1 with the control line, connect with the terminal software with Xmodem function (the Super terminal software with the Microsoft operating system).

The second step: Set the connection mode for the serial port 1 (if the connection is the other serial port on the selection of other serial port), the rate of 9600, no check, no flow control, stop bit 1, of course, directly click "Restore to the default value" can also. (Figure 1)

Step three: After the connection, the computer returns the switch without iOS interface, the general prompt is "switch:"

Step Fourth: Unplug the power cord after the switch. Press and hold the mode key on the left side of the switch panel (the general switch is the key) and plug in the power supply to the switch behind the switch. Wait until you see the Ethernet port LEDs with no wiring on the switch panel and several system LEDs on the switch are always lit.

Fifth step: in HyperTerminal Input:
