This section describes how to install a license server and use XenCenter to patch and upgrade the server after authorizing the XenServer server.

In order to realize the easy-to-use commitment, the release of XenServer 6.2.0 replaces the previous XenServer Free

Edition, Advanced Edition, EnterpriseEdition, and Platinum Edition. In this simplification, we also introduced the * licensing method for each slot. The license is no longer used to enable specific XenServer features, but means that XenServer will fulfill a valid support contract. XenServer 6.2.0 does not need to use the License Server or license file to enable features. All features are enabled free of charge in the license mode. A license is required only when Citrix support is obtained and XenCenter is required to install security and feature patches. You can continue to use the xe command line to install patches on an unauthorized host.

A slot refers to the physical CPU slot on the motherboard, rather than the core or thread.

First, check the status of the host when no license is configured.

Select "resource pool" or "xenserver host", and click "Tools"> "License Management"

License Server Installation

L Microsoft. NET Framework 3.5 must be installed in the operating system.

When installing the license Server, note that the name of the license server host must be consistent with the host name entered during license application; otherwise, the license Server cannot be activated.

Before installation, please confirm that the above conditions have been met, download the License Server installation file from the Citrix official website, copy it to the license server, and run the installation program.

Disable the high availability of the resource pool, and then open the XenServer License Manager;
