Classic menu plug-ins in Ubuntu14.04 refresh old GNOME2

Many users are not satisfied with the Unity desktop. They think that the GNOME2 menu solution is the right path. The classic menu plug-in provides a compromise that may satisfy everyone. Unity may be the first feature to be opposed by users to Ubuntu, even if the number of users is increasing and more users start to use it, there are still many users who prefer menu display in GNOME2. This is why the & ldquo; MATE & rdquo; desktop environment and other desktop environments attempt to reconstruct the GNOME2 method.

You can install the classic menu plug-in either by running the provided deb file or by using the provided PPA. We recommend that you use the second method to add PPA, because by adding PPA, you can get rid of manual installation and receive future updates of this application in time. Open the terminal and enter the following command (root permission is required ):

1. sudo add-apt-repository ppa: diesch/testing

2. sudo apt-get update

3. sudo apt-get install classicmenu-indicator

After the installation is successful (it may not take long), you can run this plug-in from Dash. Fortunately, this plug-in will automatically include itself into the boot list, so you do not need to manually add it.

This plug-in was updated a few days ago, but there were no major new features, and many of them were just modifications to the interface. For example, the text display in the subdirectory of the classic menu is fixed, and some menu items are added by changing the configuration.

The latest version of the classic menu plug-in also implements an interesting change, that is, the use of Xfce solves some old problems of Release versions without Unity (such as Xubuntu.
