With the improvement of wireless network performance, more and more enterprises are using wireless networks as an effective supplement and extension of wired networks. This is not the case. At the beginning of the year, I set up wireless network points in the conference room, training room, General Manager Office, and other office sites to facilitate the access of customers, meetings, and training, unlimited Internet access.
Now the wireless network has been deployed for nearly eight months. In this process, many strange problems have emerged. Below I will list my problems, which may provide you with some ideas to solve them.
Fault 1: cordless phones harass wireless network signals.
In the general manager's office, we have a cordless phone for the convenience of calling the boss. In normal times, you can use wireless networks for normal calls. However, when a boss uses a cordless phone call, the network speed slows down significantly.
At the beginning, I did not know that it was caused by a cordless phone call. They are desperately looking for problems with wireless routers or wireless network adapters. After a series of troubleshooting, there was no problem with these hardware. So what is it? Later, I considered that this kind of network fault would only occur when I call a cordless phone. Is it a cordless phone problem. Later, I wanted to ask the technical staff of the wireless router manufacturer for advice. It turns out that some cordless phones use the same channel as the wireless router, for example, 2.4 GHZ. Therefore, wireless network signals are disturbed when a cordless phone call is used.
Solution:
The cause of the problem is found, which makes it easy to solve the problem. There are two main solutions.
First, do not use a cordless phone, or change to a non-conflicting cordless phone. I cannot disable it because it is used by the boss. So I was looking for a cordless phone with different frequencies. However, the boss is fond of this brand because of its brand addiction. So there is no way, this method does not work.
Second, change the signal to the wireless router. Okay. This is easy to handle. I found it on the market and immediately found the wireless router from other signals. In fact, sometimes we can try to modify the signal of the wireless router, which can save money on a router. But I don't want to be so troublesome, because only the general manager's office is using cordless phones, so I directly changed a wireless router using other signal channels.
Fault 2: Wireless Network Connection faults between different locations.
Some users reported that they used wireless networks to access the Internet well in the general manager's office. However, they could not access the Internet as soon as they arrived in the conference room. Wireless networks are also deployed in the meeting room. How did this happen?
After multi-path analysis, I think it may be caused by some reasons.
First, there is a wall between the conference room and the General Manager's office. Therefore, in the conference room, wireless network signals sent from the general manager's office are relatively poor. Therefore, there are wireless routers in the conference room. However, when employees go from the general manager's office to the conference room, they still use the wireless launch point of the general manager's office. Although the signal sent from the general manager's office is weak, it has not completely disappeared. Therefore, the employee's notebook cannot be automatically connected to the wireless router in the meeting room. Because the notebook cannot determine which router to connect to based on the signal difference, you need to manually specify the connection.
Second, the SSID configuration is different. Because our conference room is different from the wireless router brand used by the general manager's office. Considering that many people may access the Internet at the same time in the conference room, a high-performance wireless router is adopted. Because of the different wireless router brands, the SSID numbers of the two are also different. Some wireless network adapters cannot automatically adjust the SSID configuration, which leads to the location change. If the unlimited router is different, the laptop cannot access the Internet normally.
Third, the wireless router in the conference room fails. However, when my laptop obtains the meeting room, wireless network signals can be used normally. It can be seen that there is no problem with the wireless router in the meeting room.
Later, I went through multiple tests and found that it was caused by the first reason. I accidentally discovered that after closing the door of the meeting room, the wireless network card will automatically disconnect the connection with the general manager's office in a few minutes, because the wireless signal has disappeared. The wireless router automatically finds and connects to the meeting room. It can be seen that this is caused by the absence of wireless router signals from the Office of the General Manager in the conference room.
Solution:
First, in the conference room, employees need to manually adjust the connected wireless router. On a laptop, let it automatically search for a wireless router and find all the wireless routers near the location. Then let the user select the most signal wireless router to connect.
Second, when deploying a wireless network, you must pay attention to the interference between the signals of each wireless router. For example, when selecting a wireless network card, it is best to select the wireless router that can automatically select the most Signal Based on the signal strength. In this way, you can save the trouble of manual intervention. The wireless network card will automatically search for wireless network signals at regular intervals, and automatically select a wireless network with strong signals based on the signal strength.
Fault 3: new users are rejected by security rules.
This is a problem with my friend's company. My friend is a new enterprise network administrator. One day, he called me for help. He said that their boss had a new laptop and he could not use wireless networks in his own office. But elsewhere, for example, the reception room can use wireless network signals over there. Ask me how I did it?
When he said this, I couldn't say anything at the time. Looking at my friend's face, I had to make an excuse for the personnel department, and then ran to his company to help him solve the problem. I initially suspected the wireless network signal problem in their general manager's office. However, I can see from his laptop that the signal from the wireless network is very strong. However, I don't know why. I cannot use this wireless router to access the Internet.
In other places where there is a wireless router signal, the wireless network card can be used to access the Internet normally. This indicates that the wireless network card of the notebook works normally. Now the problem lies in the wireless router in the general manager's office. I opened my laptop and tried to connect to the wireless router in the general manager's office. The result is still connected, and the signal strength is full. However, you cannot access the Internet. On the contrary, other wireless network signals can be found in the general manager's office, which can be used to access the Internet, but the speed is slow.
So far, I can confirm that this is not a problem with our terminal equipment, but a problem with this wireless router. Because the signal is full, I suspect that the wireless router itself is normal. It may be due to a problem in its configuration. To this end, I first connected to the wireless router with a network cable and checked its configuration to see if something went wrong. I don't know, but I was shocked. Previously, the MAC address filtering option was set on the wireless router. According to the current configuration, only two computers in the company can use the wireless router to access the Internet, because only two MAC addresses are allowed. Later, I asked my friends to confirm this with their former network administrator. In the past, other employees mistakenly entered the wireless network of the general manager's office, and the general manager thought it was troublesome to enter the network password each time. Therefore, they had to think of this policy to filter computers that can be used through MAC addresses. No wonder, the wireless network signal on my computer is good, but I cannot access the Internet through a wireless router.
Solution:
The cause of the fault is found, which makes it easier to solve the problem.
First, modify the MAC address filtering option to add the MAC address of their boss's new laptop. After this modification, their boss's laptop will be able to smoothly use the wireless network in his office to access the Internet.
The second is to disable this MAC address filtering rule. In this case, all computers with wireless NICs, including the boss's laptops, can access the Internet through the wireless router in the general manager's office as long as the signal is received. However, this is clearly against the original network management rules of their company. However, you can set a password for the wireless router so that only a specific user can connect to the wireless network.
I told my friends the cause and solution of the problem. How to deal with the problem, my friend needs to handle it according to the actual situation of their company. However, I personally prefer the second method. Otherwise, if the general manager's office comes to the customer and needs to access the Internet, it will be troublesome to adjust the configuration of the wireless router every time. I don't know if other companies do. In my company, the general manager prefers to entertain his customers or friends in his office. And they often access the Internet in his office. Therefore, using MAC address filtering in a vro makes management very troublesome. Therefore, for wireless routers, I do not recommend using MAC addresses to filter users. This reduces the flexibility of wireless routers and compromises the performance of wireless networks. To this end, the infinite network not only does not provide us with convenience, but also increases the management complexity. Isn't it worth the candle?
