After nine months of testing, Amazon Web Services now offers the Aurora Aurora database service as a complete business service, which is positioned as a high performance alternative to the widely used open source MySQL product.

In internal testing, the Amazon Laser database can be made up to 100000 updates per second, and 500000 queries per second, Aurora and MySQL are about five times times faster than that, says Wood.

Aurora is the new option (DRS) provided by the Amazon relational database service, which Amazon recommends as a universal, comprehensive data workload database.

AWS provides a managed version of MySQL RDS, but will encourage new users to choose Aurora. Users can easily deploy their MySQL scripts and query programs on the Aurora instance, customers can use the tools provided by Amazon to quickly convert their databases to Aurora.

More than 1000 of users have deployed services in the beta phase, including financial exchanges, Pacific Gas and power and outdoor content management service providers.
