Co-source launches AVS SD decoder with arm CORTEX-A8

ARM Company and China National Standard AVS codec industry leader Joint source digital audio and video technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (United sources) recently announced: The joint source has successfully developed the industry's first for the use of neon technology arm? CORTEX?-A8 processor optimized AVS SD decoder.

AVS (gb/t200090.2) is a second generation source coding/decoding standard developed by AVS Working Group (China Audio Video codec technical standard Working group). This technology mainly solves the problem of coding and compressing audio and video data. Since becoming a national standard in 2006, many Chinese consumer electronics manufacturers have adopted this technology.

The ARM CORTEX-A8 processor is the first ARMV7 architecture-based application processor with a powerful Neon media processing extension set that accelerates media codec to 128-bit SIMD processing power. It is also the arm's first superscalar architecture processor, capable of executing multiple instructions at the same time, and using thumb?-2 technology to deliver the highest code density and power efficiency while providing performance over 2.0dmips/mhz.

Through close cooperation with arm, this co-source developed by the CORTEX-A8 processor-based GB AVS SD decoder, at the algorithm level and platform level are optimized for neon technology, only need to run at 400MHz to complete the AVS SD program decoding. Other key features of this decoder include:

1. Fully supports standard gb/t200090.2 jizhunprofile@level4.0 standard

2. Support SD decoding resolution up to 720x576@25fps

3. Support Frame/field Code stream

4. Support YUV420 planar and yuv422 packet output format

5. Decoding includes the Block effect loop filter, the Mv,multi-slice PEL, and so on.
