Putty and WINSCP are the router prerequisites for managing OPENWRT firmware.

The advantage of WINSCP is that it supports multiple languages, manages files in the Linux system under a graphical interface, and stores multiple session settings to facilitate multiple-device multiple user logons. The advantage of Putty is that it provides the same command-line control interface as a Linux terminal.

Therefore, generally can first use WINSCP login, management files, when necessary, pull out putty input terminal commands, to achieve complementary advantages. Since it is common to call Putty input terminal commands quickly in WINSCP, it is better to match them with the following methods:

1. Download-free installation version of the WINSCP, extract to the XXX\WINSCP directory (XXX represents a directory);
2. Download the required language pack, extract to XXX\WINSCP directory;
3. Download-Free installation version of the PuTTY, extract to Xxx\putty;
4. Run Xxx\winscp\winscp.exe, appear "WinSCP login" window;
5. Press the "Languages" button to select the language;

9. Select "Integration-Application" in the tree list in the Options window;
10. Change the "Putty path" to the relative path ". \putty\putty.exe "(This step is the key, the path in front of" ... " Represents the parent directory, that is, the above "XXX" directory, the advantage of this is that as long as the XXX directory under the WINSCP and Putty two directories together to move to any other directory, this setting is still valid;
11. Check the "Remember session password and pass to Putty (SSH)" Project, click "OK" button to return to the "WinSCP Login" window;
12. Select the "Session" item in the tree list;
13. Select "SCP" in the "File Protocol" Drop-down list box;
14. In the Host Name text box, enter "" (openwrt default IP address);
15. In the Port Number text box, type "OpenWrt" (the default port for SSH service);
16. Enter "Root" in the "username" text box (openwrt default Administrator account name);
17. In the "Password" text box, enter the Administrator account password;
18. Click "Save" button, pop-up "Session Save as" window;
19. Enter the session name in the session Save As text box, and click OK to return to the WinSCP login window;
20. "Session-Stored Sessions" Item in the Select tree list;
21. Select the session name, click "Login" button, pop-up "Warning" window;
22. Press "No" button, pop-up "WinSCP" main interface, the left side is the local directory, the right is the router's Linux system directory;
23. You can drag files between the local directory and the router Linux system directory to complete the file copy transfer, double-click on the Linux system directory files on the router to open the file, press the "ctrl+p" shortcut (or press "command" main Menu-"open in PuTTY"), pop "PuTTY Security Alert window, press "No" portals, you can directly open the Putty window and automatically login to the router's Linux terminal.
