The total number of cores reaches 5,376, in addition, the system uses a small number of Power processors and Cell bandwidth engines to develop new parallel algorithms.

According to IBM and HPC2N, The Akka system will become one of the world's most energy-efficient supercomputers thanks to the low-power Intel quad-core Xeon L5420 processor, as the most energy-efficient Windows cluster, it will enter the global "Green500 list )". Bo Kagstrom, HPC2N director, said: "Using a low-power processor and an energy-efficient design room will turn our HPC2N into a green data center ." Kagstrom also said: "This is the first supercomputer in HPC2N that can run both Linux and Windows operating systems, we are excited to look forward to the new achievements brought about by the integration and utilization of the two different operating systems."

It is said that users may start to use the Linux functions of Akka in June 25, and Windows functions will be available this fall.
