Comments from foreign users: Ubuntu is not Linux

Comments from foreign users: Ubuntu is not the same as Linux-general Linux technology-Linux technology and application information. For details, refer to the following section. I have already said this for 1 million times. I am a Linux User. I like the operating system, the tools, the programs, the work, and the process. I like this community, and I like people here. This feeling is not restricted by the release version, or "KDE vs Gnome", "Is Amarok the best media player? "Debate on such issues ~ There is also the kind of Sincerity between people and the hot love for technology that deeply attracts me. Recently, I have read more and more stories about Linux (at least Linux is replaced by Ubuntu in the article). The term "Linux" is almost replaced by Ubuntu. The latest one is from the LifeHacker blog that I often read in the RSS reader. I read this article with respect every time, but in this blog, why does Ubuntu always become the default choice for Linux?

I know that Ubuntu is the most widely spread version, and the most widely used Linux release version (which may also rank second) has no reason to use it independently in such an article. Nowadays, many media use the term "Ubuntu" to set parameters. In their articles, almost no other releases can be mentioned in the article. It is not even explained that Ubuntu is a release version.

As I have said before, I am afraid that this trend will go on (at this time, I don't know why it will stop). At that time

In Linux, Ubuntu is just getting out of the box, as if windows has become synonymous with PC.

One day (and in many cases it is true), when some technical support personnel ask you: do you use mac or pc?

You will say "pc ".

"Okay, move to get the Start menu ......",

If you interrupt it, you say, "I have not started the menu ".

"Why? In the lower left corner of your screen"

You interrupted and said, "I am using Linux"

Technical support silence: "Well, I'm not sure if we support it. Are you sure you are using a PC ?"

I'm afraid Ubuntu will overwhelm Linux one day. I know that some technical personnel will not confuse these two things, but for the general public, there will be no Linux in the future, only Ubuntu. just like windows-do your family members know the differences between the two versions?

I also said that this incident surprised me that I had no power to change the situation. I was surprised because the competition among various releases benefited them and improved tools to allow programs to be developed regardless of the economic development and company creation. Without this, Linux will stop serving as the "L337 path", and the genius will be used for other purposes. So I hope it's not too late. I hope there is time to tell them. To fully explain the problem of "What is Linux", do not specify a specific release version, that is, it is very good and successful.

By the way, I may even use Ubuntu to achieve different goals, but I will also use other releases (such as gentoo, fedora core/cenOS) and remember the most important things.

Linux has more features than Ubuntu alone.
