This document lists frequently-used configuration commands for Cisco routers in alphabetical order.

Access-enable allows the router to create a temporary Access list entry in the dynamic Access list
Access-group: Apply the Access control list (ACL) to the interface.
Access-list defines a standard IP ACL
Access-template manually replaces the temporary Access list entry on the connected vro
Appn sends commands to the APPN Subsystem
ATM sig executes ATM signaling commands

Debug ppp displays the business and exchange information during the implementation of PPP

Dialer idle-timeout specifies the length of idle time before the line is disconnected.
Dialer map sets a serial interface to call one or more locations
Dialer wait-for-carrier-time specifies how long it takes to wait for a carrier
Dialer-group configures the interfaces of a specified dial-up group to control access.
Dialer-list protocol defines a digital data receiver DDR) the dial-up table controls dialing through a combination of protocols or ACLs and protocols
Dir: displays files on a specified device.

Enable password: determine a password to prevent unauthorized access to the vro.
Enable password: Set a local password to control access at different privileged levels
Enable secret defines an additional layer of security for the enable password command (mandatory security, non-plaintext display of the password)
Encapsulation frame-relay
Encapsulation novell-ether specifies the unique format of Novell used on the network segment
Encapsulation PPP sets PPP as the Encapsulation method used by the serial port or ISDN Interface
Encapsulation sap specifies that the Ethernet 802.2 format Cisco password used on the network segment is sap
End exit Configuration Mode
Erase deletes flash memory or configures Cache
Erase startup-config Delete content in NVRAM
Exec-timeout: specifies the time that the EXEC command interpreter has waited before user input.
Exit to Exit all configuration modes or to close an active Terminal session and terminate an EXEC
Exit to terminate any configuration mode or close an active dialog and end EXEC
Format formatting Device
Frame-relay local-dlci is used to start the local Management Interface (LMS) for a serial line encapsulated by Frame relay)

The Hostname uses a host name to configure the router. The host name is used at a prompt or by default file name.
Set the Interface type and enter the Interface configuration mode.

Interface serial Select Interface and Input Interface Configuration Mode
Ip access-group controls access to an interface
Ip address: sets the logical network address of the interface.
Set an interface address and subnet mask for Ip address and start IP address processing.
Ip default-network creates a default route
Ip domain-lookup allows the router to use DNS by default
Ip host defines the ing between static host names and Ip addresses
Ip name-server specifies up to 6 server addresses for name-Address Resolution
Ip route creates a static route
Ip unnumbered starts the Internet Protocol IP address on the serial port when a clear Ip address is assigned to an interface.
