1. Disable the Configure Server Wizard
Since the server Setup feature is not required, first we disable the "Configure Your Server" (Manage Your Server) wizard, which you can use in the Control Panel, Administrator tools (administrative tool s), manage Your server (Manage Your server) to run it, and then in the lower left corner of the window, check "Do not show this page when logging in" (Don ' t display this-page at logon).

2. Create a new user account
Windows Server 2003 does not support a Windows XP-like logon Welcome screen. You can create a new user account with your personality after you first enter the system.
Open start, run, type lusrmgr.msc, and you'll see Local Users and groups (locals and Groups).

Right-click Users in the left-hand window and select New user. Enter the account information in the dialog box that pops up and click "Create" (Great). This way your account will be available, of course, you can choose to add your account to the Administrators group, right-click on your new user.   Then select "Properties", click on "member of" on Member, "add". 3. Disable Internet Explorer enhanced Security
The IE security plug-in that appears as a new Windows Component--internet Explorer Enhanced security sets your IE to the highest by default. This way you will pop up the inquiry box on the visit site and prevent you from browsing the Web and downloading the file. We don't necessarily need this component.
We first forbid the appearance of the inquiry box, check the "Don't show this message later" in the Pop-up dialog box (the future, does not show this message)

Then, we can customize the security level of IE in the IE tool options. Pull the scrollbar on the Security tab to set the Internet zone Security to Medium (Medium), this level will fit most people, and if you have special requirements, this step will not work for you.
With the setting of IE security, you can now install it on Sun's Java vm!
Of course, you can even uninstall Internet Explorer enhanced Security in the Control Panel-Add programs-Add or remove Windows components.

Shutdown Event Tracking (Shutdown events Tracker) is also a setting for Windows Server 2003 that differs from other workstation systems, which is a necessary choice for servers, but not for workstation systems, and we can also disable it.
Open start, run running run, enter "Gpedit.msc", and in the left part of the window that appears, select "Computer Configuration" (computer), "Manage mode Administrative Templates (System), double-click "Shutdown Event Tracker" in the right window

In the dialog box that appears, select "Prohibit" (Disabled), click and then "OK" (OK) to save and exit

This way, you'll see a Windows 2000-like Shutdown window

Pull the hardware acceleration scroll bar of the page to "full", preferably click "OK" to save the exit. A black screen that may appear for an instant during this period is perfectly normal.

★directx Acceleration: Open Start (Start), run, type "DxDiag" and enter to open the DirectX Diagnostics Tool (DirectX Tools), on the Display page, click Directdra W, Direct3D and AGP Texture accelerate three buttons to enable acceleration.

7. Allow Sound acceleration
If you are using Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, do this from step two, because Standard Edition has allowed the sound service.
★ Open Start, Run, type "services.msc", locate "Windows Audio" in the window that appears, double-click it, and then select "Auto" in the startup mode (startup type) drop-down menu. (Automatic), and click "Apply", "Start" (start), "OK" (OK)

★ Open "Start" (start), "Run", type "DxDiag" and enter "DirectX Tools" on the "Sound" (Display) page, put "hardware acceleration level of voice" (HARDW is sound acceleration level) scroll bar to "full acceleration".

8. Enable Desktop Themes
If you're tired of Windows Classic's desktop, you'll want to consider enabling desktop themes, and Windows Server 2003 will turn this service off by default.
Open Start (start), run, type "services.msc", look for themes in the window that appears, double-click it, and then select "Auto" in the startup mode (startup type) drop-down menu (Automati c), and click "Apply", "Start" (start), "OK"
.
This xx is also only lets you use the Windows comes with the Luna theme of three modes, if you want to use more third-party theme files, you need to use the modified Uxtheme.dll file to support it, about the modified Uxtheme.dll file

9. Allow built-in IMAPI cd-burning service and support for Windows Imaging Device services
★ If you want to enable Windows built-in IMAPI cd-burning service. Do the following XX:
Open Start (start), run, type "services.msc", locate "IMAPI cd-burning COM Service" in the window that appears and double-click it, and then in startup mode (startup Type), select "Auto" (Automatic) and click "Apply", "Start" (start), OK

10. Advanced Settings
We can modify some of the advanced settings for Windows Server 2003 to fit the workstation's application environment.
★ Right click on "My Computer" (My Computer)--Attribute (properties)--Advanced--performance (performance)--Set (Setting)--Advanced, put "processor plan" (Processor scheduling) and memory usage are assigned to "program" (Programs) for use. Then click "OK" (OK.)

★ Disable Error Reporting
Right-click on "My Computer" (My Computer)--Properties--Advanced--click on the "Error Reporting" button to "Disable error Reporting" in the window that appears (Disable Reporting) Select and check "but notify me when a critical error occurs" (But, notify me when critical errors occur.)

★ Adjust Virtual memory
The virtual memory required to run Windows normally exists as a "backup force" for physical memory, although it is not as hard to run as memory, but memory on capacity cannot be compared to hard disks. So we've always thought that the larger the virtual memory, the better, in fact it is not, especially if the installation of Windows Server 2003 as a workstation environment does not bear the heavy workload of the situation, we can try to disable virtual memory. The premise is that you must have 512M of physical memory above.   A lot of friends worry if disabling virtual memory will not cause the system to suspend and hibernate as if it were in a Windows 9x environment, in fact, this is not the case, since the Windows XP begins its virtual memory (ie, Pagefile.sys) is dedicated to data exchange, Standby mode when the data is still in physical memory, sleep mode also has its own dedicated hibernation file (Hiberfil.sys), so there is no problem that the system cannot hibernate. While some friends who use Windows Server 2003 often get frustrated with their shutdown and logoff slowness, my personal solution here is to disable virtual memory so that your logoff and shutdown times can be much faster. I did a test today, the time to log off the user to log on to Windows with the virtual memory loaded is 3 seconds and the shutdown is 23 seconds. However, when virtual memory is disabled, the log-off time is reduced to 2 seconds, while the shutdown time is reduced to 3 seconds.
Right click on "My Computer" (My Computer)--Properties--Advanced--performance (performance)--Set (Setting)--Advanced, click "Virtual Memory" (Virtual memory) section, then select "No paging File" in the window that appears. Reboot the system.
Note: Adjusting the virtual Memory section has no problem with personal testing, but there is no guarantee that this is the case on your machine, so I am not responsible for any consequences of this setting. Just recommend that a friend try to have a complaint about the Windows Server 2003 shutdown speed.

11. Automatic Login

Windows Server 2003 defaults to using the Ctrl-atl-del to Login dialog box to log in to Windows, but we can use the Windows XP (Tweak UI) to make Serv Er 2003 is automatically logged in.

In the left panel, select logon---autologon on the right, tick log on automatically at system startup to enter your username and domain name (if not, do not write)

Click on the Set Password below, enter the username password, then click OK.

Although the same functionality can be done by modifying the registry, the method password that modifies the registry shows plaintext in the registry, and the tweak UI does not leave plaintext passwords in the registry, so it is recommended to use the Tweak UI to do this.

12. Install DirectX 9a

Installing DirectX 9a on Windows Server 2003 and installing DirectX 9a on other versions of Windows is the same way. First enable DirectX and Graphics acceleration before installing.

Right-click Users in the left-hand window and select New user. Enter the account information in the dialog box that pops up and click "Create" (Great).
