Considering the network support capabilities, especially the mobile phone support capabilities, in the early stages of mobile data business development, WAPl. the X protocol does not directly use the HTTP/TLS/TCP protocol on the wired Internet, but uses the WSP/WTP/WTLS/WDP protocol and adds the WML language, these protocols are generated based on the fixed network protocol (HTTP/TLS/TCP), but this also causes the inability to directly access the Internet through a mobile phone 。

With the development of the network, especially the terminal, the difference in transmission performance between the mobile network and the fixed network is reduced. In terms of protocol implementation, WAP2.0 is closer to the mature protocol (TCP and HTTP) of the fixed network ), however, to ensure compatibility with existing mobile phones that only support WAPl.2, WAP2.0 must provide support for the WAPl.2 protocol stack. In short, to provide IP connection bearing, WAP protocol stack 2.0 with WP-TCP instead of WSP/WTP/WDP in WAP1.2, cannot provide IP connection bearing, the WSP/WTP/WDP cometric stack is still used, so we can say that WAP2.0 has returned to the original HTTP/TCP protocol 。

Faster: the WAP gateway does not need to convert HTTP/TCP and WSP/WTP/WDP protocols; the mobile phone side does not need to parse WSP/WTP/WDP; this requires Wireless Configuration of HTTP/TCP 。

Performance Improvement: because a large number of protocol conversions are not performed, the same hardware device supports more concurrent users 。

Provides end-to-end security. For example, if TLS is used, the WAP gateway does not need to parse HTTP applications, which is passthrough and end-to-end 。

Rich Content: Because the WAP2.0 protocol adopts a language compatible with the wired Internet, it has gained more extensive support and more applications can be used on the mobile Internet more easily, this is in WAPl. this compatibility also makes WAP2.0 better than WAPl. X has a longer term of use and a stable product form (without frequent upgrades in protocols and Markup languages), allowing mobile users to enjoy the rich content of the wired Internet 。
