At the seminar, the two schemes were completely different. One uses a general chip, such as DSP, arm9-and FPGA, and one uses a dedicated chip, such as a copy, scan, and fax integrated chip. The two solutions have their own advantages and disadvantages:
The general-purpose chip has the following advantages:
1. It is easy to purchase chips. Not only depends on one model. Any MCU can. The nxp arm chip can be used, the Atmel chip can also be used, and the Freescale chip can also be used, with no limitation on the model.
2. High software portability. As long as the general arm system is adopted, both arm10, arm12 and arm10 can be easily and quickly transplanted.
3. upgrade is advantageous. General MCU has been developing rapidly. With the development of MCU technology and digital signal processing technology, the Operation processing speed will become faster and faster.
4. The use of Linux has good scalability. Linux is a mature operating system, and there are thousands of people around the world to maintain and update it, supporting new technologies very quickly. For example, usb3.0, WiFi, and image processing can all be supported by the community.
Disadvantages: the use of general-purpose chips, high software complexity, long development cycle. In addition, the performance may be inferior to that of a dedicated chip due to software reasons.
The advantage of using a dedicated chip is:
1. Easy software development. All the underlying chips of a dedicated chip are implemented by chip vendors. Therefore, as long as applications are available, the software complexity is not high.
2. excellent performance. Dedicated chip, which uses a single internal task and many are implemented by hardware, so the performance is superior.
Disadvantages:
1. It is not easy to purchase. Not many dedicated chips are used. Therefore, there are not many mass production projects and it is not easy to purchase.
2. It is not easy to expand. Because all the functions of the dedicated chip are dead, the functions that will be added in the future cannot be satisfied.
3. Restricted by people. Due to the limitations of dedicated chips, it is easy to get out of stock and the long-term maintenance of the troops is a huge problem.
4. The software cannot be transplanted. The software can only be used for chips of a certain type and cannot be used for other chips. Therefore, once the chip is no longer provided, the software can only be re-developed for the alternative model.
The above shows the advantages and disadvantages of general-purpose chips and dedicated chips. For the Military Industry, long-term maintenance is required, and features need to be changed for different situations, which is completely different from that of civil machines. The limitations of dedicated chips will be gradually presented over time. In addition, if general-purpose chips are used and various supply channels are available, we can use domestic MCU chips to replace them even if our country is fully blocked during the war.
Mr. Hu said, "If you don't want to find anything for the time being, you can think about the advantages and disadvantages of the two implementations in the future. How to make a decision depends on the competent authority.
