It can be used as a wireless extension technology for cables and DSL, known as "wireless DSL", to achieve wireless broadband access. The Difference Between WiMAX and DSL is obvious. In terms of the use environment, WiMAX technology is used for wireless access, while DSL technology is used for Wired Access. Cable Modem technology can be divided into two-way symmetric Transmission and non-symmetric Transmission. The symmetric transmission rate is 2 Mbit/s ~ 4 Mbit/s, up to 10 Mbit/s. The downlink rate of asymmetric transmission is 51 Mbit/s, and the uplink rate is 500 Kbit/s ~ 31 Mbit/s. CableModem is not just a Modem. It integrates Modem, tuner, encryption/Decryption device, bridge, network interface card, virtual private network proxy, and Ethernet Hub functions. It does not require dial-up access and does not occupy telephone lines. It can provide permanent online connections at any time. Because all user signals of CableModem are transmitted on the same coaxial cable, there is a risk of wire eavesdropping. The tree-like network of CATV also causes single point of failure (spof), such as cable damage, amplifier fault, and transmitter fault, which may interrupt user services on the entire node. Although early users of Cable Modem can enjoy excellent services, the bandwidth and frequency band of the line are abundant when there are few users. However, the addition of each Cable Modem user will increase noise, occupy channels, reduce reliability, and affect the existing user service quality on the road.

Some of the latest platforms even support multiple Wi-Fi standards (such as 802.11a, B, and g) to support compatibility between several wireless networks. Although Wi-Fi has many advantages, its security risks are a fatal weakness. Wi-Fi uses RF technology to send and receive data through air. Because wireless networks use radio waves to transmit data signals, they are very vulnerable to external attacks. Radio waves can penetrate walls and partitions, hackers can easily steal data from the radio waves or even access the unprotected company's internal LAN.
