Step 1 of Wireless Network Relay Settings: Use the wireless signal scanning tool on the laptop that connects to the wireless network adapter to scan the strongest signal at home, after confirming that the signal at a certain location is the strongest, it is best to put the relay device here.

WIRELESS Network Relay settings Step 2: In the DD-WRT Management Interface we find the WIRELESS label, and then select basic settings, which is set to AP by default, it provides common AP access and signal transmitting and receiving services. Because we want to use this device as a destination WIRELESS network repeater, here we will change the wireless MODE to client and the WIRELESS network mode to hybrid mixed, the wireless network name (ssid) information is added to the scanned wireless network SSID, that is, tp-link. Keep the other information by default. Then, click the SAVE button to SAVE the configuration.

Step 3 of Wireless Network Relay Settings: After the wireless mode is modified, we also need to configure the connection type of the wireless WAN Interface and return to the setup-> basic setup interface, modify the WAN connection type to the automatic retrieval mode of automatic configuration-DHCP from the drop-down menu and save the settings.

Wireless Network Relay Settings Step 4: If there is no problem, we can refresh the WAN interface to see the address information, of course, this address is actually allocated by another person's TP-LINK DHCP service, we can see that the obtained address is 192.168.1.112, the gateway address and DNS address are 192.168.1.1, this address is the management address of the TP-LINK, So we achieve the wireless signal expansion and amplification.

Step 5 of Wireless Network Relay Settings: Of course, there is still a problem that cannot be ignored, that is, the management address of our wireless router cannot conflict with the management address of the target device, for example, the management address of my device is 192.168.1.1, which cannot be modified. We need to change it to another network segment, for example, 192.168.0.1, And the DHCP service must be modified accordingly.

TIPS:

You cannot click the SAVE button when modifying the address pool and the vro management address, because the SAVE button takes effect only after the device is restarted, therefore, we need to click the apply settings button to enable these two parameters immediately.

Step 6 of Wireless Network Relay Settings: After the storage is complete, we implement the relay and amplification functions of the wireless network. Other people's wireless networks are successfully introduced into our own homes, our wireless router has the INTERNET access function, all network packets are sent from the wireless network to the destination network of the TP-LINK wireless router, and then further connect to the INTERNET.

TIPS:

Because our local wireless router only provides the relay service, ping 192.168.0.1 (the management address of the local wireless router) on the connected device, however, if you want to ping 192.168.1.1 (the management address of the wireless router in the destination network), you cannot connect. Therefore, the ping method cannot be used to detect network connectivity.

With this relay configuration, we can connect computers without wireless NICs to the common LAN Ethernet interface of the local relay wireless router through the network cable, this allows computers without wireless NICs to access the internet through wireless networks for surfing.
