Completely solves the problem of still shining after the mouse is shut down

The keyboard and mouse power-on function of the motherboard is the most common cause for the mouse to still emit light after shutdown-to realize power management functions such as keyboard and mouse power-on and network wake-up, at present, the mainstream ATX12V power supply in the market will provide power supply to the motherboard With + 5VSB. That is to say, the mainstream ATX power supply does not cut off all the voltage supply after shutdown, but retains a group of + 5VSB output to power the motherboard, so that the motherboard, keyboard, mouse, and other hardware in the STANDBY state. Currently, most of the Main Boards support the PS/2 keyboard and mouse power-on, so after the power is turned off, the power supply is still the PS/2 port of the Main Board, so that the mouse is in STANDBY state, at this time, the most obvious characteristic is that the scanning light of the photomouse still emits light.

If your motherboard only supports the PS/2 keyboard and mouse power-on, you can use the USB interface to solve the problem that the mouse still emits light after shutdown. However, many mainboards support PS/2 and USB keyboard and mouse boot at the same time, no matter whether you use PS/2 or USB Interface Optical Mouse, as long as the keyboard and mouse boot function is not disabled, after the mouse is shut down, it will remain in the STANDBY state. The most fundamental solution to this problem is to disable the PS/2 function of the motherboard and enable the USB keyboard and mouse.

In addition, when the host is shut down, the mouse light is also exclusive to many motherboard using the Intel chipset. Because the Intel chipset does not cut off the V mains supply (that is, the power supply is also available), its USB port will provide a random voltage output of v-v, if you are using a USB Optical Mouse, the mouse scan will still be on.

How to turn off the keyboard and mouse power-on Function

Because the motherboard has different settings for the keyboard and mouse boot function in different periods, you can use the following methods to disable the keyboard and mouse boot function:

1. Turn off the keyboard and mouse power-on Function in BIOS

At present, most of the BIOS of the Main Board provides settings for the keyboard and mouse boot function. You can go to the "Power Management Setup" page of the main BIOS menu, find "S3 KB Wake-Up Function" or options with similar meanings (such as "Resume On KBC" and "Resume On PS/2 Mouse ), set it to "Disable" (as shown in), and turn off the power of the motherboard + 5VSB for the keyboard and mouse. The PS/2 Optical Mouse will naturally not light up after it is turned off.

In addition, as USB peripherals become more and more widely used, many motherboard also provides the USB keyboard and mouse power-on function, on which the USB Optical Mouse will continue to emit light after the shutdown. The process of disabling this function is similar to that of disabling the PS/2 keyboard and mouse Power-on function. You can go to the "Power Management Setup" page of the BIOS main menu, set "USB Wake-Up From S3" or an option with similar meanings to "Disable. I believe that those who have a certain understanding of BIOS can easily complete these settings even if they do not read the motherboard manual.

2. Modify the motherboard jumper

For some old models of boards that were listed earlier, because the BIOS functions of the Boards were relatively simple at that time, these boards can only enable or disable the boot function of the keyboard and mouse using jumpers. To turn off the keyboard and mouse power-on function, we must change the connection status of the corresponding jumper. Therefore, you must carefully read the motherboard manual-there are many Jumpers on the old motherboard, if you do not understand the meaning of the jumper, you can set the jumper. Otherwise, the normal function of the motherboard will be affected, and the weight will cause damage to the motherboard.

The ultimate solution to photovoltaic mouse shutdown light

Although the above two methods can solve the problem that the mouse still emits light after the shutdown, they are not omnipotent. Although some motherboard provides the keyboard and mouse boot function, the BIOS of the motherboard does not provide settings to disable this function, and there is no corresponding jumper on the motherboard. In addition, some Intel chipset boards that we mentioned previously provide random power to USB ports and cannot be disabled through BIOS or jumper settings. If you use a USB Optical Mouse on the above motherboard, the scanning light of the mouse will not go out.

In fact, the above two special situations are actually normal, neither affecting the USB device nor having any security risks. However, if you think that the mouse lights that are still on after the shutdown are really unpleasant, you can choose the ultimate and most useful method: Cut off the V mains supply, that is, unplug the power cord or turn off the general switch of the socket (many friends will put the power cord plug of the Computer Host, display, and speaker on a single socket for use ). This not only eliminates the problem that the mouse lights will not go off after shutdown, but also saves the power consumption of the display and motherboard in standby mode (although the power consumption is small, it is also a good thing to save.
