1. optical fiber cables:Fiber Optic Cable is a new generation of transmission media. Compared with copper media, optical fiber greatly improves security, reliability, and network performance. In addition, the bandwidth of optical fiber transmission is much larger than that of copper cables, and the maximum connection distance supported by optical fiber transmission is more than two kilometers. This is an inevitable choice for large-scale network construction. Because optical fiber cables have the advantages of good electromagnetic resistance, strong confidentiality, fast speed, and large transmission capacity, they are also expensive and rarely used in household use.

Currently, two different types of optical fiber are commonly used: Single-Mode Optical Fiber and multi-mode optical fiber (the so-called "Mode" refers to a ray of light that enters the optical fiber from a certain angle ). Multimode Optical Fiber is generally used for network connection in the same office building or a relatively closer area. The Single-Mode Optical Fiber delivers higher data quality and longer transmission distance. It is usually used to connect office buildings or geographically dispersed networks. If optical fiber cables are used as the network transmission medium, devices such as optical transceiver need to be added. Therefore, the cost is even greater, which is rarely used in general applications.

2. Twisted Pair wires:Twisted Pair wires are flexible communication cables that contain pairs of insulated copper wires. They are characterized by low prices and are widely used, such as our common telephone lines. Based on the maximum transmission rate, twisted pair wires can be divided into 3 categories, 5 categories, and over 5 categories. The speed of the three types of twisted pair wires is 10 mb/s, and the speed of Category 5 is 100 mb/s, while that of Category 5 is as high as 155 mb/s, which can meet the needs of multimedia data transmission in the future, therefore, Category 5 or more than Category 5 twisted pair wires are recommended.

Twisted Pair wires can also be divided into shielded twisted pair wires (stp) and unshielded twisted pair wires (utp ). Although the stp twisted pair has a low speed (only 4 mb/s), its anti-interference capability is higher than that of utp twisted pair, so the price is much more expensive. Currently, this twisted pair is a few yuan a meter cheaper, if the price is more than 10 yuan, you can buy one meter. In contrast, the price of utp twisted pair wires is generally about one dollar per meter, which is relatively low.

In addition, the popular 10 M and M unshielded twisted pair wires are 10base-t and 100base-t, which are frequently seen on the market. The rj45 crystal head is used together with the twisted pair wires to create connectors between the twisted pair wires and the rj45 interface of the NIC. Its quality is directly related to the stability of the entire network and cannot be ignored.

3. coaxial cable:Coaxial cable is a kind of transmission medium that many friends are familiar with. It is a cable wrapped by a layer-by-layer insulation line with a central copper conductor. Its biggest characteristic is its good anti-interference ability and stable data transmission, and the price is cheap, so it was widely used, such as closed-circuit television lines. However, in the past, many coaxial cables were used, mainly because the bus structure network composed of coaxial cables is low in cost, but the damage to a single cable may cause the entire network to be paralyzed and difficult to maintain, this is the biggest drawback.

In Ethernet applications, coaxial cables are divided into coarse coaxial cables (10base5) and fine coaxial cables (10base2. Rough coaxial cables are not used much now, and there are still some markets for fine coaxial cables. The general market price of the fine coaxial cable is a few yuan a meter, not too expensive. In addition, the coaxial cable is used to connect to the bnc head. The coaxial cable sold on the market is generally finished with the bnc head. You can choose directly.
